Exclamation So much for my Marshall MGHDFX 100! (Does anyone know how to fix one of these?)

The problem that i have with this retarded thing is that the speaker jacks aren't sending out any signals to the cabinet. Thats as much as i know. I opened it up and nothing looked like it was burned inside, so i have no idea. If anyone has some tips let me know.

Never heard of a Boggie amp before.

Just messing with ya. So you're gonna sell a Marshall and get a Boogie and you came here for help?

Take it to a tech.

I love Dual Recto's btw, I have a 2 channel 1993 model (see avatar) but I ALSO love me some Marshall's (see avatar).

Best wishes!

checked to see if there was any signal coming from my headphone jack, there isn't anything. as for the master volume knob, its fine, nothing wrong with it.

This might sound silly but are you sure the speaker cable is good? Also make sure there isn't a faulty solder, check it all out. Maybe the amp is spent?

It is turned on right? Stupid question, but stuff like that's happened to me before, I thought my amp was broken, turned out my guitar wasn't plugged in.

Re: So much for my Marshall MGHDFX 100! (Does anyone know how to fix one of these?)

Plug and unplug a cord a few times in every speaker jack. My 16 OHM jack once stayed closed (open?) when I unplugged the one cabinet and used two in the two 8 ohm jacks for the stack, resulting in no sound. I just had to plug into and unplug the 16 ohm jack to free it up and all was well.

Try different cords, different guitars - every combination you can think of to eliminate all possibilities. If process of elimination doesn't solve the problem, take it to a tech. If that doesn't work, use it for a boat anchor. I'm told the MG series excels in that role

if you cant fix it. put it on ebay, and list it as broken. ive seen alot of gear sell that was broke. that way you will get a little something out of it. but dont forget to add a little extra on shipping to cover the ebay fee.

tried both my guitars on it, tried different cables and still nothing. As for using it as a boat anchor, not a bad idea. lol. Might sell it on ebay though as broken if this is what it comes to.

Re: So much for my Marshall MGHDFX 100! (Does anyone know how to fix one of these?)

mmmm if there is no sound in the headphones jack either there is def something wrong with it, maybe a last look at it from the guts and see if there is a loose cable or something, so take it to a tech or sell it as broken

Boat anchor... bad idea, the presswood will expand in a few days and if you use the handle to secure it as an anchor, youŽll end up loosing the anchor and really get pissed off jaja

cheers

Re: So much for my Marshall MGHDFX 100! (Does anyone know how to fix one of these?)

I hadn't thought of that javier, you've got a good point - maybe it wouldn't be so good as a boat anchor. Maybe the world's coolest paperweight though

I think your next step is to take it to a tech. Ask them if they charge a minimum fee for bench work - some places will charge you more than the amp is worth just to look at the thing. Again because this is an MG you'll probably be limited in how much money you want to spend fixing it. I've seen these go for $200 practically brand new on craigslist, so I'm not sure how much of a market there is for a broken one either.

Best of luck on this, and let us know how it goes.
