50th Anniversary Marshall - any ideas?

In approximately three years, Marshall will be celebrating their 50th anniversary.

I wonder what kind of amplifier they will release in celebration? Perhaps they'll reissue the Silver Jubilee amps, but with a golden faceplate and call them "Golden Jubilee"?

Of course, I'm open to new ideas as well. Maybe a Plexi with a built-in power attenuator? A 5 channel amp, maybe? Maybe they'll just make special editions of their mainstay amps with "50th Anniversary" slapped on the faceplate?

Whatever they come up with should be interesting.

Re: 50th Anniversary Marshall - any ideas?

You know I was thinking about this at work today!

I'd like to see soemthing that brings a good mix of old and new, something like two channel JCM800 that has seperate preamp paths, one for clean & one with all the gain mods for dirty sounds

Also I think an all tube amp with the JMP stylings with a single row of knobs that has a user bank to store 4 different sounds. You could have a Plexi type clean, JTM crunch, JCM Lead etc all in the one box... Drool =)~~

Re: 50th Anniversary Marshall - any ideas?

I think it would be great marketing for Marshall to have a contest for the fans to help design an anniversary amp. Obviously not everyone could submit their own idea as they would get millions of them...but maybe have something on their website like a poll on features Marshall fans would like to see in a new amp.

Got to agree, This way they would see what the public wants - but then again satisfying everyone will be a big challenge

Re: 50th Anniversary Marshall - any ideas?

thats what they did with the JCM800 R.I. , marshall asked the retailers what amp
the public whats or needs , and a large vote went to the jcm 800 !!

not to start a big uproar on the forum , but that to me speaks volumes about
how great the 800 series amps really were (and still are !!! ) IMO !!!

That is what I fear will happen but I hope they bring back the roots and expand on the Vintage Modern.

Re: 50th Anniversary Marshall - any ideas?

Are there any Marshall employees or other people with inside information who can shed light on this subject?

I've done a lot of Google searches to look for information on Marshall's 50th anniversary but I haven't found anything!

Re: 50th Anniversary Marshall - any ideas?

I liked how both the 25th and 30th anniversaries got whole new amps. The 40th was kind of a "same stuff in a different package" idea, or at least it seems that way to me.

I'd like to see something really special and new for the 50th. Something that makes me want to buy a new amp, not just look for a used one that is the same.

Re: 50th Anniversary Marshall - any ideas?

I'm guessing a 100/50/5W, four channel, digital effects, diode clipping version of the Class 5! Green tolex with gold piping!

Re: 50th Anniversary Marshall - any ideas?

It's gotta be all gold-colored! Gold with a little sparkle in the Tolex (kinda like the Silver Jubilee if you look closely at it)! Gold piping. Black grill cloth. Shiny gold face plate.

Well a JVM does almost the same thing as that, but if the are gonna make another version of the JVM with the same idea and the same amps you mentioned above in it, it would be realy cool !

I'm hoping it's a revambed 800 kinda thing.

If they waste the opportunity with a modelling amp, I will cry.

Re: 50th Anniversary Marshall - any ideas?

Whatever they'll do, please do a REAL Made in UK. Since it's gonna cost 5k, I don't wanna see a single atom of Chinese stuff in there!!!!!!! They're already doing too much of that crap!

Re: 50th Anniversary Marshall - any ideas?

Now, now...that's all about world marketability. Marshall has a lot of competition and they all are using the Chinese. At least Marshall took it up a notch and went with India on some of their models. India is a high tech country in case you didn't know. It's this production/marketing savvy that is going to allow Marshall to "have" a 50th anniversary.

I hope it is a well tuned, high gain amp. Anyone can make a high gain amp, but it takes a real pro to make a high gain amp sound good.

I would like to see a multi-channel amp that spans some of their best designs. Even a two channel would be killer if they did it right. I was talking to Jon Wilder the other night and told him I thought it would be killer if Marshall came up with a new power section that could be the basis for several new amps. How does an amp with two KT88's running at 40 watts apiece sound? I mean what is the difference between an 80 watt amp and a 100 watt amp? Hardly a thing.

Yeah, a juiced up power amp with KT88's running with the proper power tranny, plate voltage and tube specific OPT. Oh that would be sweet. Hook that up to a two or three channel preamp.
