Maybe this thread should be re-located in the other amps part of the forum?

Still doesn't belong here

Anyway, go with the amp that sounds the best. Also, the first amp is 5W, the other 25W-50W. Might want to consider what wattage you need :P

Maybe you should try the forums that are applicable to those amps?

You might get an even better response from actual users of the amps you're wondering about.

Or try Harmony Central to see what others are saying.

I just don't want to see the main forum become inundated with questions about other amps that have nothing to do with Marshall's.

Re: Epiphone So Cal 50w Vs Blackstar HT5-5w

Try out the epiphone forum.

I think the epi is better but :

Epiphone So Cal 50 Guitar Head Specifications:
* Designed and engineered in the USA by Gibson
* 50W or 25W Class AB switchable
* All-tube circuitry
* 2 channels
* Solid state rectifier
* Presence control
* Contour knob and gain control for channel 2
* Tube-powered reverb
* Independent/interactive EQ switch
* Standby switch
* Shared 3-band EQ
* Master volume
* Dual 4 ohm, dual 8 ohm, and 16 ohm speaker outs
* 12AX7 preamp tubes with DC powered filaments
* EL34 power tubes
* Footswitch jack (switch not included)
* High-tension fuse
* 16-gauge bent and spot-welded chassis
* 11-ply plywood cab construction
* 26"W x 10-3/4"D x 10-3/4"H
* 42 lbs.

but... it has a solid state rectifier.

How old are you ? I need to know that because i need to know what tone you like.. but i think the so cal will be the best amp for you.

Re: Epiphone So Cal 50w Vs Blackstar HT5-5w

Hey im 14 and play in a band
we play punky stuff
but at home i love to play
Good old G'n'R espically the
appetite stuff, but i also would
like good cleans, although there not a
priority i do like to change sounds abit
insted of sticking to the heavy stuff.
thanks!

Hmm... Well for your distortion tones the epi is good, and for your cleans and low dist's you need the blackstar.

Well then go for the Epiphone.. that's more all round. The blackstar has better sound quality, but it's for good lower gain sound's , not for higher gain sound's
