07 DSL-401 burning smell: Help

When my new DSL-401 gets warm, I smell buring solder. The amp runs fine and it never gets bad, nor is there any smoke. A called a tech and they said it was normal. Does anyone agree?

Thank you.

They do have an overheating problem that was supposedly addressed in the newer models. As long as you don't see smoke, its probably ok, but if its a VERY strong smell, take it in to a reputable tech and have them give it a once over.

Re: 07 DSL-401 burning smell: Help

I think i found what makes the smell, there is a
long strip of foam rubber that is below the power tubes
i dont know if its fireproof or not, but seems to me
that foam rubber and hot tubes are a bad idea?
could be that the smell is melting foam rubber?

I was told the strip of foam rubber is heatproof silicon
so thats not it.
Ive been runing mine wide open and its not even heating
up,
I would have your Bridge Rectifer checked by a tech
