Speaker swap for my JCM 2000 dsl 401
Ok, so the newest issue I'm having with my 401 is which speaker to use. I bought it used a month ago and the last owner had a Eminence Blackheart speaker in it. I guess thats better than the stock. However, as soon as I got it home I dropped an Eminence Wizard in and never looked back. I've always enjoyed it in my old Peavey Valveking. I never gave the Blackheart a chance with my own guitars and pedals.
Lately it seems that the Wizard sounds a bit bland and nothing like it did with the Valveking. So I decided to toss the Blackheart back in and it sounds real nice. Its not so heavy and muddy like the Wizard. Both speakers are British voiced, 75 watt, 16 ohm Eminence. I guess the difference I'm most concerned about is that the magnet for the Wizard is 56 oz. and the Blackheart is 38 oz. I haven't had a chance to really open it up with the Blackheart and I have an outdoor show in a week. I don't plan on miking my amp. Will this Blackheart speaker be able to handle being crancked up. Or should I toss the Wizard back in. Does the magnet weight make that big of a difference in speakers? Can someone explain? Thanks. |

Re: Speaker swap for my JCM 2000 dsl 401
Since they are both 75W handling, Id say they both are fine on this 40W amp. I use a 60W V30 in mine.
