NAD. JVM 410h
I may have the most severe gas on this forum. You all know that I loved my Vintage Modern but had always wanted a JVM. Well I traded my VM + $200 cash for a JVM 410h.
Don't freak out! I had bought my VM for $475. So I pretty much got the 410h for $675! Talk about a steal! I'm a happy camper....for now until gas strikes again! Scour your local Craigslist always!

Re: NAD. JVM 410h
OD2 Gain up full? - you don't play loud, then!
![]() Either that or you use the green mode? Resonance up full??? Metal? Try it on zero for a classic rock sound!

Re: NAD. JVM 410h
Since you're in the honeymoon phase, this probably isn't the best time to ask (should revisit this thread in a couple months), but how are you enjoying the JVM compared to the VM? Feel like you made the right decision?

Re: NAD. JVM 410h
My God, people please. At any one time, you're only using NINE knobs...EVER.
Gain, Treble, Middle, Bass, Channel Volume, Reverb, Resonance, Presence, Master Volume. It never goes beyond that. People who look at that amp and whine about it being overly complicated are being dumb. At any one time, 19 of those knobs are disabled: (3 reverb knobs, 1 MV knob, and all 5 knobs per channel not being used). I use only the same number of knobs that I would use on a DSL. So I don't get why people think the JVM is some kind of overly-complicated device.

Re: NAD. JVM 410h
What's hard is going from a JVM, back to a two channel (or one channel/boost) amp. I had a VM, he won't regret the trade. Plus, he basically stole it, nice. Do a few simple mods (JVM forum), and my guess is he'll be hanging on to it.

I really loved the VM but I love trying new gear and I am also trying to get engaged so economically the trade for JVM was a great deal. So when it comes time to sell the JVM it is a bit more marketable and I can make a little bit more money. I wish I could have kept them all but as beyonce said "if you like it it's time to put a ring on it"! I am very lucky I have a girlfriend who lets me crank up at 9am! Gotta lock her down! Lol

A few simple mods to the JVM will soon get that feel back....mainly fitting a choke, neg feedback mod, and anti-compression mods. As someone else said - check out the JVM forum Quote:
Haven't heard it called that before, but I guess what you get up to at home is your business.. ![]() .

Re: NAD. JVM 410h
Hey, this is my first time posting. So I've got a dilemma and I'm hoping someone can help me out!
I've actually been a Carvin guy but with a taste for Orange. Finally decided that, although my Carvin mts 3200 can achieve a great tone... it was a piece of crap. I'd have it in the shop at least once or twice a year. So I finally got an Orange Rockerverb 100 MKII... after never playing one... and I hated the natural distortion of the amp. Beautiful amp, but it was too rubbery for me. I like richer tone and gain, so the Thunderverb may have been the better option for me... but I digress. Now, I tend to like the simpler amps... 1 or 2 channels max. Carvin, Rockerverb, my old Sunn Solarus... all simple amps. So after trying the Orange out at the store... I decide that I want to become a Marshall guy, so I make the switch. I play mostly punk, but I'm a tone junky, so a cheap amp at max volume isn't going to cut it for me. But I went home with the 410h.... loved it at the store. It was exactly what I was looking for in an amp... tone wise, at least. I wasn't a fan of all the channels (and yeah I'm aware they make a 210, too... but I liked the tone from the OD2 channel on the 410). So, my dilemma is this: After getting it home and cranking it in front of the band... it sounded flat. I lost the tone, and could barely hear myself. So, since I'm a simpleton at heart... I'm contemplating a switch to the JCM 800. I'll have to go with the reissues, most likely, since I'm past the return date at Guitar Center. Should I keep the JVM and work on tweaking it/maybe run some pedals through it, or should I switch to JCM 800... which is louder, right? Pretty much a legend, that sort of thing? haha Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks |

Secondly; the JVM takes A LOT of time to learn how to eq properly and responds differently to different settings at different volumes like most tube amps do. Thirdly; But these go to eleven.
