What's your favorite amp for cleans

Does not have to be a Marshall. I am just curious.

Mine is a Marshall JCM 800 2203 into the low input.

I also have a vintage fender vibrolux and I like the cleans from the Marshall a lot better.

Re: What's your favorite amp for cleans

Most times I just use my DSL and play softly. I'm rarely completely clean anyway and like a little crunch in at least some part of my songs. If I really want clean all the way...I use my Fender Tweed Deluxe clone and keep the volume below 4. Fpr a cleaner than Pat Boone kind of sound...you can't beat a Fender Twin.
I am gassing for a Fender 65 Deluxe Reverb RI at the moment.

Re: What's your favorite amp for cleans

I like all 3 of these for cleans...

DSL 100
'62 Pro (1x15")
'65 Tremolux

The T-Lux was my main amp from about '99 to about '07. I *never* had trouble getting a great sound out of it, no matter the gigs' acoustics or other circumstances. It's funny; my fave Fenders (including ones I don't own) don't have reverb, and all of my Marshalls do, in opposition to most guitarists' preferences.

I normally turn to a '66 Vox AC50 or Cornford MK 50H II. Don't laugh but the '96 4500 sounds great.

cheers,

Matt.

JTM45 / 1959 / 1987 / Vintage Modern

I'm not a fan of blackface Fender amps, but I can dig the cleans on some of the older 'tweed circuit' Fenders, such as the 'Tweed Deluxe', 'Tweed Twin', and 'Tweed Champ'.

Re: What's your favorite amp for cleans

I wish I had a longer playing history so my choices covered a broader time frame but I don't so my choices are all new stuff. I think if I could experience a Bluesbreaker firsthand it would be my favorite but I've only listened to sound clips.

1) JTM1
2) Fender DRRI
3) H&K Tubemeister 18

My best cleans come on my 1987, low sensitivity on bass channel with a 5751 tube in V1 and a Strat!

Soldano hotrod. Not cristal clear cleans, but i don't like that. Clean has to have some sparkle or something. I plugged the soldano hotrod in and that was an amazing bluesy sound, never heard that before or after. There was also a G12-65 speakercab underneath so that a nice sounding speaker for that kind of sound.

I really like the cleans on the JVM along with the digital reverb. But for classic RNB when you want to get real loud and stay dead clean, I like a fenderr twin.

JTM45/bassman and blackface Bandmaster.

out of what i own the Bogner Alchemist but the Dragon's a close second. given the stage volume it'd be equal i think.

I'll be honest. A JTM 45 with no attenuator through whatever cab I played it through in the music store lol. It was silky smooth.
