Re: Can you please tell me about this 'Artiste' head..

In Doyle's Marshall book, he implies that the Artiste series are very non-Marshall sounding Marshall. Don't break up the same as typical Marshall's of that era. So no, apparently they are not a 1959 with more features.

Apparently , Jim Marshall was once quoted as saying this was the worst Marshall ever made, never played one , but if the price is right why not.

Re: Can you please tell me about this 'Artiste' head..

I have never heard them but people dont rave about them, and they seem to sit on ebay for weeks at a considerably low prce without being bought. So i get they opinion that they arent a desirable sounding amp.

Re: Can you please tell me about this 'Artiste' head..

I have the 50 Watt version from ´71 in my Museum. Last week I had
a visitor who plays Jazz and funky stuff. After an hour he said:
The best Fender sounding Marshall Amp he ever played !
In my opinion the Artiste is a very good sounding Amp---clean.
With a Hughes & Kettner Tubefactor he can be an Animal.
I play the Artiste with a 4x15 Cab from the early seventies.
