Extension CAB for a Class5?

Hey all.
I'm trying do decide on some 1X12 Cab for my Class5 combo.
I'm looking for something that is more natural and neutral from the actual combo.
also "larger" with more definition with what I got from the 10" In the C5.

I live is Israel, so I guess not so much of a boutique around here.
Here are my options that I can get relativity with no hassles.

Mesa Boogie – compact 1X12\wide
Mesa Boogie – Transatlantic 1X12 (19\23)
Mesa Boogie – lone star 1X12 (23)

Egnater – Tweaker 1x12
Egnater – Rebel 1x12

PRS - SE 2x12 Cabinet

Orange - PPC-112 60W
Framus Dragon 112
Suhr 1 x 12 -Black Unloaded (and buy some 12" like G12 30w)

And ofcourse some Marshalls

What would you get?
I play mostly progressive metal\rock\blues etc.

Thanks a lot from advance
A

Re: Extension CAB for a Class5?

Not sure if you mean the Egnater 1x12 for the Rebel series or the one for the Tweaker.

The Rebel one is closed backed and has the Celestion Elite 80 while the Tweaker is semi-open and has the G12H30-70th.

I have the Tweaker 1x12 and I love it. Great with all 3 of my low watt tube amps.

hi BRP - thank! :-)
i wrote that i can get the tweaker and the rebel one..

my thoughts was also on the tweaker while its open back and got the G12H30 in it.. i guess it will be more suited?!?

my second choice (or maybe its need to be my first?!) is the Mesa..
how they perform compeer to the egnater?

Re: Extension CAB for a Class5?

I have no idea on the Mesa vs. Egnater question but I agree that the Tweaker cab would (at least technically) be more suited to the Class 5 than the Rebel cab.

I don't know if any of your other options have this but I'd be tempted to get something with a removeable partial back so you can try it semi-open AND closed to see which suits you best, or have the option of both for whatever style you're going for on any given day.
Dr. Z, Jet City and Avatar among other manufacturers as well have this feature.

Re: Extension CAB for a Class5?

Not sure what the situation is in Israël and guitarshops and the gear they have.
But if you can, try a 2x12.

It's personal, but I think speakercabs or combo's with just one speaker don't sound as good as a 2x or even 4x.

Using a smallbox 4x10 myself (Marshall 1965A). Not as bad on your back, like a regular 4x12, but sounds just like one nonetheless

Thanks RB
They (we) got 2X12 AND 4X12 also among the cab's that available.
But i have some "room" issues.
I'm not sure that I can fit an addition 1X12 let alone 2X12 (or 4X12)

I have my own music room around the house (the only thing that the wife let me to called my own ;-))
But it's a very tight one unfortunately…

Roadburn and jwebb1970 like this.

Re: Extension CAB for a Class5?

That's a pitty. Looks like a very small room indeed.

B.t.w. nice hifi installation you have there!

Re: Extension CAB for a Class5?

I concur w/ Roadburn.
I've been messing around with a couple different 1x12" cabs the last couple years but I'm going out to get myself a 2x12, very likely next week.

After weeks of researching my viable options, I think I've pretty much decided on the Jet City JCA24S+. Great price, loaded with JCA branded Eminence based on the Legends, stereo or mono option and it has the convertible semi-open or closed back panel.

Regarding the room issue, most 2x12 stood vertically are only going to be a few inches bigger footprint than most 1x12.
For example, the Tweaker 1x12 horizontal footprint is 20", vertically it's 15" and the JCA24S+ vertical footprint is 20" for what it's worth.

Re: Extension CAB for a Class5?

I have a closed back 1x12 with a WGS reaper (g12h30 copy) made by Sourmash, and its pretty sweet with my C5.

Also search the forum for this topic in other threads. There are many.
