Arrow Marshall JMP 2204 (clip)

I was bored today so I decided to do some mods I wanted to try out on the 2204.

Changed the tone stack slope resistor from 33k to 47k.
Bypassed V2A cathode resistor (820r) with a mullard .68uF.
Replaced the .1uF cap on the presence with a SoZo .68uF.

Has a lot more chewiness to it and bottom end.(beefy)

Here's a clip I made today, went with the Celestion V30's for the recording.
Let me know what ya think.

damn- awesome- would you mind doing a demo of other songs other than VH?

it nails that but I'm wondering what the mods sound like in another context

With the new mods it seems to have enough gain do all the guitar tricks with ease.

Greatly appreciate the feedback.

Very good point.
Yeah the next clips I'll play some Nuno (Extreme) or something like 70's - 80's.
I'm hoping I will have some time today to put a clip together.
Any request ???
Thanks

I think Slash & EVH get over played from time to time.
But I think my Marshall brother is right.
It's time to branch out with these mods & play some different styles.

Thanks for the kind words.

With this clip you should get a feel for the amp head and how it reacts with different playing styles.
In the beginning for this clip I try to rock it up and in the middle of the clip I mellow out.

Re: Marshall JMP 2204 (clip)

IMO, These are the best Marshalls ever made.
I don't know why they sound so good, but they just do. So smooth! and the gain is just right. I've never found that in any of the modern, or reissued amps Marshall made. The plexi's are 'bigger' sounding (and feeling too) but I think I actually prefer these. They're just right, and that 'scratchiness'they excrete is spot on Ozzy! Makes me want one now.. I wish Marshall re-issued these with the 100 watters because I wouldn't buy a 100. No need for it and theres twice as many power tubes to buy.

The JMP 2203 & 2204 are Marshall's best.
Lot's of gain with growl.
Top of the Marshall pyramid.

Thanks for the feedback.

-Changed the tone stack slope resistor from 33k to 47k. = bumps up the amps midrange frequencies, beef's up the tone.
-Bypassed V2A cathode resistor (820r) with a mullard .68uF. = This will increase the gain, midrange boost.
-Replaced the .1uF cap on the presence with a SoZo .68uF. = What this mod does is make the presence control affect the mids and highs instead of just the highs, more of a chewy tone.

Awesome.... that 2nd clip sold me! That's the tone in my head when I think Marshall. But crap, this just tripples my budget since I can't crank one most of the time. (will need to re-amp)

Amazing tone bro!
