Class 5 tube retainer question
I have the newer 3 piece back model C5. Wonder what the consensus is on removing the metal tube retainer with the rubber grommets in it. Any harm or benefit in taking it off and letting those tubes hang loose? Also, any thought on leaving that black grill off too?

Re: Class 5 tube retainer question
I have an older version so I really don't know about the newer ones. I would think it would be ok as long as the sockets are tight.
I removed the metal grill as well as the small bottom piece on mine. I originally did it so I could reach my hand up inside to swap tubes and I couldn't get in there with those pieces on. Then when I settled on the tubes and put it back together I didn't like it. I prefer the way it sounds open so I took them back off...my 2 cents. |

Re: Class 5 tube retainer question
Mine is a head but yes I took that massive "retainer" off. I think that thing is stronger than the frame on the first minibike I had
A PITA to get it off BTW...

Re: Class 5 tube retainer question
The rubber seal around the tube and the retainer are there for a reason, to keep the tubes from rattling. Not all C5 amps rattle, there is nothing to gain by removing them other then to have easier access to change a future tube.

Re: Class 5 tube retainer question
I ditched the retainer & generally have the metal grille off @ home. No rattles before or after.
