jcm 800..100wt verses 50wt..HEADROOM?
Hey guys,
Beating the dead horse again, but here goes. I would like specifics from people who've owned and played both. the 2203 verses the 2204.... I've got the 2204 and think a little extra clean headroom would be nice. Is there that much difference with a 2203 as far as cleans are concerned? Specifically, is the low gain channel on the 2203 going to be a lot more clean than the 2204 or is it going to break up roughly the same with just more output? I know everyone says the 100watter isn't that much louder, so I guess we're comparing breakup here, or will it be cleaner and noticably louder as well? Also on the high gain, with the 2203 if I cannot crank it to the sweet spot, can a clean boost be used to hit the sweet spot with out all of the volume? Or am I just obsessing with the next big thing, as it is easy to want more, more more with this amps.... Can one really gig and play at home with a 100watter or am I crazy? My reasoning is I'm going to be doing a lot of covers coming up that alternate between cleans and distortion, so I plan on using the low input and a distortion pedal....please don't say I've got the wrong amp for this as I mainly use the high gain for my tone. I just need to be able to pull off these cover tunes well too. Thanks all |

you can always do the cleans by lowering the volume of your guitar you know? use a little phaser and lower the volume of your guitar, and BOOOMMM the best clean ever!
