Used DSL 401

Is $350 a fair for a used, fully functioning DSL 401? I was at one of the megastores and they had four used ones each priced at $849 and collecting dust. I see them on craigslist posted $500 and up and they are not moving. I know we may feel they're "worth" more but the demand and the current economic conditions don't support these prices in my opinion. What do you guys think?

350$ is a very nice deal for this amp! If it's in perfect condition, definitly a deal!

Re: Used DSL 401

Hi,
You have to try it out. I had one for a year or two-paid $600. But like you said-different times than now. But if you can get a clean than it must be OK--we know they can crank and sing. The main complaint I heard from owners was a hollow sound. I think plenty of single speaker rigs have that. But one thing is for sure, if that amp is OK, when it's trade-in time you will get more than you paid. I got my $600 back after playing it for some time. In short, sounds too good to be true. Buy it and make a profit in a couple years.

Re: Used DSL 401

Thanks Mike. Yeah, I'm thinking those used ones I saw at Sam Ash were traded in for less than 1/2 for what they're asking. I did find a private party sale that's willing to negotiate his asking price. 1x12 is just fine for me...I'm a closet rock star...and not as tone savvy as most. I actually think my MG100DFX sounds good.

$350 is a steal. The DSL-401 is a great combo that Marshall has no equivalent for anymore. Hell, at $350 I'd grab it just to have a spare...
