marshall tsl 100 lead channel

Hi folks
I have a marshall tsl 100 triple lead amp .The lead channel sounds rubbish no matter what I do very little tone very harsh sounding and flat.
I have tried to dial it in as much as I can but it has had no effect.
Is this a characteristic of this amp.
Any thoughts would be gratefull cheers.

What sound are you going for? Your description sounds nothing like what I can get from my TSL.
