New Zakk sig amp in the works!!
So I was just reading a aussie street press mag with a interview of Zakk, and he stated he has just found 2 of his old marshalls which he has given to marshall to work with on his next sig amp
Anyone else know anything? To be honest I think I am more excited about this one and than the possibility of the big golden jubilee!!

Re: New Zakk sig amp in the works!!
There has been talk about ZW and Marshall working together to release a new ZW sig Marshall for 2012. All I've ever read is that it might be based on some JCM800 head (perhaps a model 2203) he owns, but any details concerning it's features is what most people are trying to figure out. I've seen photos of demo version of the new ZW sig Marshall, but I'm not certain whether that anything is finished.
I like the approach Marshall and Slash took in developing the AFD100: a website dedicated to it's progress with updates, video clips, interviews, etc. Based on the speed with which the AFD100 sold out (new are super hard to find in the U.S. anymore), I don't think transparent nature of the AFD100's development really hurt it's sales. I do wish the development of the ZW and Satriani sig Marshalls also took this same approach.

Re: New Zakk sig amp in the works!!
Isn't he the one quoted as saying "put a 57 in front of an 800... It ain't rocket science)?
What are they going to do? Slap a bullseye and stars&bars on some extra 800's they have laying around, run it up an extra grand and sell them? Not a Zakk fan, but I should say... I'd rather he has one than yngie or whatever. He for sure has waved the marshall flag for a long time, although I hear he uses a C5 in the studio, to get that sweet power tube distortion. ![]() And he's jonesing for a 1-watter, reports say.

Re: New Zakk sig amp in the works!!
By the way the article read it sounds like its a brand new project. Not sure how it could change from his his first sig amp but a built in attenuator would be awesome!! Either way I am a huge 800 & zakk fan so I would off a amp to get one!

Re: New Zakk sig amp in the works!!
I agree with Newbies that it will in someway be different than the ZW, but nobody really knows how it will be different. I have seen the photo of those '800 ZW amps posted by zenonu, but I've also hear they are prototypes, so a lot could have changed since then.
Personally, it makes sense to his new Marshall sig to have at least a couple of the following: 1. built-in noise gate (because ZW uses a helluva lot of gain at least 50% of the time. 2. channel switching with dedicated clean channel (because ZW does use a clean tone in his songs. 3. valve fault indicator like AFD100/YJM100 (because tubes are unpredictable and take a crap sooner or later. 4. user bias setting like AFD100/YJM100 (because it would be easier, safer, and less confusion to bias than resorting to the various methods that are sometimes difficult, dangerous, and confusing). So, though it is just speculation, the 4 features listed above are some ways that the ZW might be different. But it is ZW's call, so who knows. I missed out on the ZW2203 by only a 2 months, so I'm saving up for either the ZW sig or the Satch JVM sig.
