50'th Anniversary JTM 1 - How is it?

Has anyone got that? It is so small. Does it not sound boxy?

Tone is always subjective. Personally I think they sound great and plan on using it in my studio.

I am not sure how many people already have taken delivery of this amp. I have one on order but might not see it until next week or the week after.

Here are some videos of it.

All the 1 watts look pretty cool to me. I wish I could have 1 of each. I just wonder if any of these will be in stores to check out.

Re: 50'th Anniversary JTM 1 - How is it?

Sounds crazy, but I'm wondering if we'll even see enough of these in this corner of the world (US). Have a hunch (hope I'm wrong of course) the JCM1 in particular will be gobbled up in pre orders and that will be that, you'd actually be LUCKY to sample/purchase one first hand in a store. Nothing wrong with relying on forum dudes getting gear (AMPS!) and posting their thoughts/clips, etc, but nothing beats sampling an amp in person.

Re: 50'th Anniversary JTM 1 - How is it?

I don't know about the combos or any head shortage but I do know a lot of the dealers in this area are not going to get any. When I asked they about them said that they had to take a minimum of 8 of each and that at 750- 800 each they didn't see them being able to get rid of them do they won't be getting any. I just hope that it doesn't affect any of the other 50th amps by them not taking these.

Re: 50'th Anniversary JTM 1 - How is it?

Good review.

I purchased the JTM-1 last week and I have to say I am very happy with it. Mine is from a Shop in Madrid (Spain).

Here you are some pics of mine.

As I was curious, I opened it and this is what ther is inside the amp.

And here with the Speaker Cabinet.

Regarding the sound I think it is very nice. It reminds me the original amps with those fat low ends. I miss eq controls but the tone controls works really well to give or take clarity to the sound. With some pedals it is amazing and more if you want to boost the gain.

I play at home at 0,1W and the bedroom volume is nice. I think it sounds better on 1W, more agressive, more openned, more natural but it is unaplayable at home, you need attenuator.

I haven't tried with the band but in my opinion in a Rock Band with drums it won't be enough volume.

Anyway the amp is fantastic.

I'm sure this has been addressed but how many of each model will be released? (JTM, JMP, JCM, etc)

Really thought these sounded great at Namm - the problem is I want them all, I'm up for the JCM800 mini, I'll hopefully pre-order once I'm paid, Marshall loveliness - looking forward to the clips.

Re: 50'th Anniversary JTM 1 - How is it?

I just picked my combo up.

It was the first time the guys in the shop had heard one and we were all instantly impressed with it.

I brought it home and gave it the full Mullard treatment then played for 3 hours straight

As people have already said, this thing is not quiet. Yes, played clean it's 1 watt (and the clean tone is excellent) but as soon as you crank it, it gets LOUD!

I found the sweet spot was with both controls at 12o'clock with a guv'nor pedal infront, it's just an amazing tone.

This amp really really rocks. I'm seriously wondering if I need 3 JMPs, a JCM800 and a JTM45 when I have this!

Nice. I want to hear it some more. The only reason I didn't get one is I bought a 2203 JMP instead.

Thank you all for your replies. It sounds like it is a great gear. Nevertheles I went out and got one of the last pieces of the Class 5 combo, as it will soon be sold only through the Marshall Custom shop at a much higher price, with just some visual cosmetic changes to it.

A friend of mine borrowed my JTM1 for a small club session driving two 4x12 and he said it worked fine with the drums and bas

He loved the sound!

UnFortunately I was out of town and didn't hear them Play

Jorual I roughly measured the dimensions of the JTM1 and cab in your photo and it seems that two JTM1's will fit side by side on the BHW cab perfectly without any hangover... correct?

Edit: This is the second time I've asked and still no one could be bothered measuring it. Dont bother, I'll Email Marshall.
