back panel for JCM 800?

I just recently bought a used JCM 800 2205 head and the back panel is missing. I was wondering if anyone here knew where I could buy one. I'm planning on making my own just to shield the tubes until I can find the actual part made by Marshall.

Any help would be appreciated.

Indeed, seen several JCM 800's out there without back panels. Strange isnt it?

I know a guy who makes custom ones, he made me one which surprised the hell out of me. Pretty cool looking but not many of the purists will be fans, will get some pics up at some stage

I was just about to make a post almost exactly like that one. Just bought a 2205, no back panel, where to get a genuine replacement, etc.

Re: back panel for JCM 800?

I doubt that the original piece would be availible. You may be able to order a similar-size panel for newer model Marshall if one is close enough to fit without any modification. But I can only imagine if either is availible, the price may be prohibitively expensive. And if you're outside the UK, the shipping may be expensive too.

Best bet may be to visit some authorized repair center shops. Some of those techs are packrats and save everything. They may have a compatible if not original backpanel.

If you are not concerned about absolute originality, then I'd try one of the aftermarket replacement panels that were mentioned. They'd still look better than a piece of plywood painted black.

Re: back panel for JCM 800?

Thanks for the help, guys. The one on that site looks close enough to the original part at a good price. I checked ebay a few days ago and all I found was some guy that makes these ugly aluminum panels.

This is my new baby:

Re: back panel for JCM 800?

On my 2205 I took the back panel off to access the tubes when replacing them and just never put it back on. Should I be rushing to get it back on? Maybe to reduce dust and corrosion?

Re: back panel for JCM 800?

I don't think it'll do much to prevent rust or anything, I was just more concerned about something damaging the exposed tubes. Loading and unloading equipment can be dangerous, haha.
