Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the posts referred to the EPA (electronic power attenuation), a feature that Marshall introduced for the AFD and the YJM. You can read about it in the amp manuals, like http://marshallamps.com/downloads/fi...D100%20hbk.pdf

Speaking of which, what do you AFD or YJM owners on the forum think of the EPA? Is it as good as advertised? If it's as good as it sound from YouTube clips, Marshall should totally release a Jubilee 100W head with it

I haven't bought anything from billy Hyde in years lol. I don't set the EPA too low on the afd, I don't know if it's my cab because I sold my good one, but with it low it sounds real dull

Re: OFFICIAL 50th Anniversary Thread

I just confirmed my JTM 1 order. There are only 150 ea. like I've always been told. I got the head for $700 and passed on the combo at $750. Most small dealers are only getting 1 or 2 of these so it will be hard to find a good deal on these. Seems like all the big online stores are selling these for a bit more.

I was told my JTM would be here mid-late Feb.

Re: OFFICIAL 50th Anniversary Thread

That is two of us with a JTM1 now. The 150 is ALL Marshall USA decided on, they could have ordered more but didn't. That is not a lot of amps in the US, breaks down to 3 amps per state is all if you want to look at it that way. I suspect Marshall USA will order more JCM1 800s when its time. While that amp had the most gain of the three it was not the best tone of the three IMO. Chris told me that of the 5 he liked the two channel DSL1 best followed by the JTM.

The curcuit on the JTM1 I am told is that of the JTM45 with some hotrodding. They also made it so the channels were jumpered all the time. The tone knob on it works as if you were to blend one channel more then the other.

Anyways it sounds great. I paid $749 for mine shipped so it sounds like you got a better deal.

Re: OFFICIAL 50th Anniversary Thread

This kind of gives you an idea of what the "AFD5" might look like and cost. I wonder how long it will take until there are clones of these little guys, along with some cool mods. Rumor has it that someone over in one of the other forums is working on a #34.1 mod for the mini JCM800.

I am pretty sure there are only 150 of ea. amp period. This is what I based my order on.

I never had a chance to buy a 25th or 30th Anniversary so I'm gonna be all over these 50th's. Not sure how many I will get, but I am hoping for a 100 watt Golden Jubilee by the end of the year.

The fewer they make or send to the US the more they will be worth.

The dealer told me if I bought all 5 heads he'd make me a really good deal. Not sure about that yet!

The EPA is incredible on the AFD and works great. In fact, sometimes when it's late and everyone else is asleep, I'll turn the power down to 0, flip the FX loop switch on, with it's level set around 1 on the back, and I'll have the master at 10, and this thing is breathing fire, just above a whisper. Tubes fully saturated with very pleasant harmonic overtones oooohzing out of the speakers, it's music to my ears only. Next to a gain control, it's got to be one of the greatest inventions for a tube amp.

Amazing! Do you run it through Vintage 30's?

Looking forward to seeing a 50th head with EPA

in my opinion EPA is really cool!!!
compared to THD hot plate that I had for so long.. it's really better.

Don't forget the role of speakers in your ''tone'' so, obiouvsly, if you're giving 1 watt to a 280 watt cab (as 1960 AV ) .. well.. you can't tell you have the SAME tone ...
BUT EPA solved me a matter: how to have the best from my isobox (1x12).

if i'm not in Studio and I need to record a real cranked amp on a V30 (70 watt) now i can do it with no fear to destroy the speaker.
if i want to use a G12H30.. I can...
the same if I'm going to use a greenback (25 watt).

That's cool!

About a 2555 with EPA ... well it's a great idea and i hope Marshall will produce it someday ( I wished it was the 50th anniversary amp )

anyway I can use the DI out of my 2555SL and put it in the return of AFD100 ..so I can use the EPA with a full cranked Jubille.

That's an interesting point. In fact, I was hoping Marshall would release custom-voiced 1x12 cabinets for the 50th micro amps... maybe next time.

I hate to be negative but that sounded horrible. Is it just me or was that guitar out of tune (25 seconds in). I only listened for about 40 seconds.

I should add that I really dig the Chris George demo of the JTM1.

Re: OFFICIAL 50th Anniversary Thread

Good review.

I purchased the JTM-1 last week and I have to say I am very happy with it. Mine is from a Shop in Madrid (Spain).

Here you are some pics of mine.

As I was curious, I opened it and this is what ther is inside the amp.

And here with the Speaker Cabinet.

Regarding the sound I think it is very nice. It reminds me the original amps with those fat low ends. I miss eq controls but the tone controls works really well to give or take clarity to the sound. With some pedals it is amazing and more if you want to boost the gain.

I play at home at 0,1W and the bedroom volume is nice. I think it sounds better on 1W, more agressive, more openned, more natural but it is unaplayable at home, you need attenuator.

I haven't tried with the band but in my opinion in a Rock Band with drums it won't be enough volume.

Anyway the amp is fantastic.

HA! The 1 watt (and 5 watt, for that matter) amp conundrum!

Not loud enough, but still too loud! LOL

0.1 watt FTW!!!

Re: OFFICIAL 50th Anniversary Thread

Went into the shop to get my JMD1 today and look what they had! That's my new JTM1 head

Hooked it up quickly so we could all hear it. Sounds like a tame 100 watt monster. Played it with a strat. Very cool!

I talked to the shop owner and he said he was only geting 1 of each amp for a total of 10 mini amps. The combo was still in the box.

Just an observation.

That 50th sticker on the front is TOO BIG. Probably made for a bigger amp???

Looks like minis made it to the US. Anyone else get a JTM-1 yet here in the US? Thoughts?

I'm loving mine hooked up to my 425 cab and a 2x12 w/ Hert. 30's. Gonna hook it up to some of my 1x12's to test too.

Re: OFFICIAL 50th Anniversary Thread

The 1 watters are obviously not as loud as the Class 5. Just did a quick test but not with a meter. Someone can do the math and figure out the dB difference.

I played each through a C5 cab with a 10". I had both volumes cranked and all tone controls at 12 o'clock.

The C5 was obviously louder, but it was also muddier and "flubby/loose" on the bottom end. I eventually rolled all of the bass of the C5 in order to clean it up like the JTM-1.

The JTM-1 has all the tone you would ever want just not the punch in the room as you would expect.

Re: OFFICIAL 50th Anniversary Thread

Got a chance to play the combo today. Sounds good by itself, but both the combo and the head sound way better through a 2x12 or 4x12 cab.

A strat sounded really good through the combo, a Les Paul was a little too much on the bottom end for the small speaker. I find this to be true with just about any small 1-6 watt tube combo with a small 8"-10" speaker.
