Black Vintage Moderns

Do they still make them?

Let's see some pics of the black one.

yeah whatever

An artist only digs black amps? The purple on this amp is actually muted and elegant not overbearing.

I like Silver Jubes and the white RR's too and there's nothing muted about those colors!

If I was ready to pull the trigger on a VM it would definitely be purple. What's the big deal anyway? One of my amps is orange, for Petes sake.

The purple isn't too bad, mine only looks purple in bright direct light. Hopefully Marshall will quit making purple ones, and the purple ones will immediately fetch more resale as they will obviously sound better. Anyway, I know that if I get tired of the purple, I can just spray paint the tolex black like all those vintage Marshalls are now.

Juuust kidding...

Hey, you better use vintage lead-based spray paint found in an old retired English cabinetmaker's shop.

Re: Black Vintage Moderns

I'm not saying purple is bad. I actually like the purple and might get that one, I was just wondering if black was a color choice also.

Thanks.

Re: Black Vintage Moderns

Does anyone know where I can buy a Vintage Modern (new, from a dealer) in black? I want a 2466 head and a 425A cabinet, I think.

I know the purple is not THAT purple, but I just want a pure black one. So, where can I get one? Anyone know?

THanks,
Jim

Re: Black Vintage Moderns

I checked with Musician's Friend and they say they only have the purple ones (although the guy was kind of an idiot). Does anyone have any recent experience with other vendors where they got the black ones?

Re: Black Vintage Moderns

I'd like for my VM to be white like the RR signature. A white head on a purple 4x12 would be pretty hot looking.

Re: Black Vintage Moderns

Guitar Center, and my local shop, says they only carry purple, but Guitar Center says they may be able to special order it in black, which will take 6-8 weeks, it's totally non-returnable/non-exchangeable, etc. Can it really be that hard?

Re: Black Vintage Moderns

When I was looking at Marshall heads/cabs back in the summer, I was checking out the VM and dug the dark (deep) purple, but wondered if I'd be sick of it, or have a change of heart, down the road.

But then I looked behind me and saw an absolutely mint JCM800 head sitting there, unclaimed and unnoticed by anyone, and the rest is history.

Yeah, you could get it signed by Brett Favre.

Ha, that's great! Problem is, he might change his mind on the autograph, start crying, and then try and take it back ... might cause me to give him a good kick in the Wranglers

Go Giants!
