Happy Halloween Clip For You (JCM800)

Hey guys. I decided to record another clip in honor of King Diamond for the Halloween season. He is essential listening for me during October. I was trying to decide on which tune to cover and decided to give my all time favorite a shot...The Black Horseman from Abigail. The melody, playing and emotion is all present in this tune.

I am very happy with the guitar tone I got here. I tried some new settings and I'm pleased with how it turned out. The left rhythm track is completely dry (no effects. The left track has just a touch of delay to add some air to certain parts but I turned it off for the last part of the tune. I used delay from my Rocktron Xpression for the leads. This clip was all my Marshall JCM800 Cali modded by Mike Fortin in addition to my Anderson Drop Top.

Disclaimer: I know the solos are not 100% accurate but I tried to include the parts that are familiar and add a lot to the melody of the tune. Some minor timing issues but was just too lazy to go back and fix. Obviously, no vocals were attempted.

I have an idea for a video version of this clip for later in the week. My way of celebrating Halloween.

Hope you like it!

Man that was incredible to say the least.Awesome playing and great tone. That type of metal has some very tough timing in parts and you nailed it.The acoustic parts were beautifully done.Great job!!

Love the tones! I'm not a real hard rocker, so I liked the beginning better, but it all sounded tight. Love that Marshall sound!

that was awesome- I was singing and playing along...getting those "looks" from my wife, heh

great job...and nice work tackling one of metal's "holy grail" solos (Denner's ending solo)

Thanks guys. That outro solo has always been one of my favorites. I feel like I am finally getting a great recorded tone.

I TOTALLY agree with you with respect to K.Diamond and Halloween. Hands down though his best representation of this theme was his work with Mercyful Fate. Their 'In the shadows' CD I believe is some of his best work. The guitar playing on that album is positively brilliant. I also like his Puppet Master conceptual album as well...

Re: Happy Halloween Clip For You (JCM800)

Thanks for the comments guys. I love Abigail and Them quite a bit. Fun to revisit how great these albums were. I personally thing they still sound great even though the production values were very 80s. Mikkey Dee was huge part of why these albums were so great. I wish he would have stayed with KD. I'm sure he makes much more with Motorhead.
