Hi
I currently own a JVM410H, and a Digitech Effects processor RP350 I was running this pedal through the amps main input (Guitar --->Effects Pedal ---> AMP input (front) I was running this on the clean channel with all Bass - Mid - Treble all Midway. Is there anything wrong with running the Effects pedal through the front input of the amp, instead of the FX loop. And could this cause any harm to the valves or amp (Running heavy distortion from the pedal, through a channel that's usually clean). Also do many other people do it this way with valve amps. Thank you |

Re: Effects Pedal Through Tube Amp Input
Nothing wrong with that, if you are using OD or Distortion effects that is the way to go. Some folks might use time/ delay type effects through the loop depending on taste and your tolerance for noise. Also unless you run your amp super clean, the delays will just get muddy going through the amps pre amp stages.

Re: Effects Pedal Through Tube Amp Input
I agree. Merely a matter of preference. Will not damage the amp running straight into the input.

Re: Effects Pedal Through Tube Amp Input
Not exactly the best way to get the most from your Marshall but you can run it like that.

Re: Effects Pedal Through Tube Amp Input
Why do you buy Marshalls highest gain/most versatile all tube amp just to negate it by using a digital effects processor?
Not trying to sound like a dick, just asking an honest question.

Re: Effects Pedal Through Tube Amp Input
If I had your rig, I would set it up in one of two ways:
Before the amp (like the OP asked): modulation only: Chorus, phase, flange, etc. to taste (no delay or reverb). or In the loop" Modulation only: Chorus, phase, flange, etc. to taste (including delay and reverb). What I would not do is use the "dirt" on the rack. Granted, I would be tempted to mess with it a bit, but it's not like you have a 4100 on your hands. The amp you have is very high gain AND very versatile, thus more dirt options (lesser ones at that) are more distractions that get in the way of playing (and perhaps tone as well).
