Re: did HOT TUBES try out a VM yet?

It could be that the VM isn't the type of sound you like or they have a bad one in.

Re: did HOT TUBES try out a VM yet?

you should go to a happy VM owners home and
try it if you know anyone in your area, someone that
already knows the great settings, and have worn in thier
speakers. The only real complaint i have heard is that
the new speakers need to be broke in before they sound
smooth.
Celestion should do that at thier factories, you would think
they would know that by now that broke in is much better

I'd imagine that would add a huge cost and lead time if they were to do that.... personally I'd prefer to pay less and break them in myself.

Or you can order hellatones which are already broken in and are reasonably priced. Some members here swear by them.

psphill,

Thanks for the heads up. I called yesterday and talked with one of the managers (Clay ****). Not sure if you know him or not. Anyway he verified for me that it was still there and I let him know that I wanted it. He held it for me until today and I went by GC in Raleigh and payed for it. Clay will ship it to the Raleigh store where I can pick it up. Clay really seemed to be a pretty good guy. They ship and receive so much gear, It only cost me $9.00 for shipping.

I purchased the GC 7 year service protection that protects me from any malfunction over this period (which I normally ignore). The manager in Raleigh told me they had dropped the price of their last VM considerably and even with shipping and extended protection, I still payed less than their advertised price (before taxes). A steal. If I were you, I would drop by and see Clay and demand your commision. lol.

I have a cool story that occurred to share with all you devoted Marshall junkies (especially all you VM lovers). I will post this on the VM forum and then copy and post here.

Great score dude!!! I had bought one recently for a similar steal and love mine, but didn't really need another one. So, I thought someone on the forum might enjoy picking it up. Hope you enjoy the amp as much as I enjoy mine.

stockhippie & psphill27,

"The conversion of VM non believer" This is a thread I posted originall on VM Forum last night. I coppied it and posted on this forum also. When you get time, read this thread. This story happened to me last night after I payed for the 2466 psphill turned me on to. I think you will enjoy it.

My tech has already emailed me a couple of times this morning, trying to get more info on the price and details of the deal I got. I told him that I was sure the one I bought was the last in the store in Fairfax, but I suggested he call the manager I payed in Raleigh, that he can search GC's around the country and find a similar deal.

If anyone sees a similar deal anywhere, please let me know and I will pass it along to him.

I was planning to buy a 2466 a little later. I had promised my wife I would wait until I saved the money, but when I saw this price, I couldn't pass it up. I plan to run them together and see what kind of combinations I get from them.

Thans again psphill!

I'd be sort of interested in that as well but to be honest with you, ALL gear reviews can't be positive and is bound to have some critical ones, that said though, most of the ones I've read on the web are overwhelmingly positive.

Talk about opinionated and purists the LP forum is full of them!

I ran into a few decent folks there but man got flamed by folks who if you didn't own 'the true plank of wood' LP that God himself imbued you didn't know what you were talking about.

Whatever.

Admittedly the VM isn't for everyone, neither is a LP, a JCM800, A Jubilee, etc. etc. etc.
