I don't know if I'd take that as a compliment or a diss!

you guys had to have been there to hear it it was just sad. it sounded nothing like any of the clips posted here , no marshall guy should have to
ever endure the hell i had to listem to than night. it was the worst marshall
amp that i have ever heard .........no joke !! thats why i still think the amps
got a sore paw ,if know what i mean... again not trying to compare the two
but my 6100 would have embarested the vm, that night. and there is no comparing the two amps ,they are vastley different . i seriously hope they
can get that vm sounding the way it should.

Re: did HOT TUBES try out a VM yet?

Let's not make a blanket statement that 'THE VM has issues'

It would be best to state perhaps, that THAT VM has issues but as you will find throughout Marshalldom there are MANY satisfied users.

Re: did HOT TUBES try out a VM yet?

What that the one there is a lemon?

Could be, it also could be that no one did a thing to it even though you suggested it so it wound up still sounding bad. Hard to believe it got worst or didn't change at all if they did so I'm skeptical.

You need to hook up with someone who has a good ear and has one and loves it and try theirs out.

It took me quite some time to dial the ones I tried out in to find the good tones and volume but once I did I was able to dial all kinds of tones and sounds in. Same with the one I wound up getting. Once it came in I had to find it's sweet spots and work around them and then I was able to expand and dial in all kinds of tones and sounds.

youtubes sound great ...at least to me...but i just dont get all the tweaking you have to do do to it to get it to sound right...kinda like you have to know the secret sauce recipe on your big mac before you can eat it!!!!...

Re: did HOT TUBES try out a VM yet?

If boutiques sounded better I'd have them instead.

Like I said before and I'll say it again, this amp ain't for everybody. For guys who like big macs better stick with plug and pray.

For me it's perfect because I'm a tweaker by nature and don't leave anything as is. Besides if you want to sound like a million other players just buy what a million other players have and be done with it. Me, I like creating unique tones.

Re: did HOT TUBES try out a VM yet?

Hey guys...if anyone is in the market, the guitar center in Fairfax, VA has a brand new VM 100 watt head for $799. Just saw it tonight. They ordered it for some dude who decided he didn't want it and it's just sitting there looking pretty.

Re: did HOT TUBES try out a VM yet?

hmm... sorry if this is a dead thread but i have tried 2 of these amps and the first one was just as HOT TUBES described. completely thin and harsh. for 25 mins i had a hard time getting some good tones. i tried a second one at anther music store after i heard another guy jamming on it. same model head but these were completely different beasts. this lead me to think that the first one i tried was fresh out of the box, speakers in the cab most likely were not broken in at all and the head was barely used. the second one seemed to have some miles on it even tho it was still in the store.

Re: did HOT TUBES try out a VM yet?

Maybe thats the problem the speakers werent broken in
yet,
I have Aniversary G12H Greenbacks that i use with my
VM, i have never heard an amp so sweet and fat with tone
its got all kinds of low end almost too much, i dont get it
sounds like some lemons maybe

Go to the Vintage Modern forum, spend some time reading, and listening
to peoples recordings,
http://vintagemodern.informe.com/

Heres a youtube video of Jeff Beck playing through VM's
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7ECdYboOVA

and a couple of great VM owners raw recordings using the VM
http://www.thegutbusters.com/temp/st...ght_VM2266.mp3

http://www.thegutbusters.com/temp/noquata.mp3
