Novice tube Amp Question...?

Gents
First, I'd like to say hello to everyone here as I am a new member.

I have a Marschall JCM 2000 DSL 401 combo with 3 channels.
I bought it used and have been using it for over a year now.
Recently, the sound started to go out after playing a few minutes.
Now, no sound would come out at all when I turn it on.
I also notice that one of the 2 buttons on the foot pedal won't
turn off either. (button #2 "OD1/OD2")

I opened the screen in the back to see if all the tubes light on
when the power is turned on. There are 4 tubes closer to rear
and 3 towards the front. Only the rear 4 light on. only 1 of the
forward ones light on but barely.

What is wrong with the amp? Need new tubes? $$$?

Sounds like you're correct that it's time for a full retube kit:

Re: Novice tube Amp Question...?

Gents
I just got my amp back from the repair shop, and it works better than ever!
The problem was the heat generated by the tubes. I had the circuit board
re-soldered, got a new foot switch, a new reverb pan, and installed a fan.
Replacing the tubes was not necessary.

I had it done at Fuchs Audio Tech (Fuchs Audio Technology :: Handcrafted Tube Boutique Guitar Amplification.)
in Clifton, NJ. Nice people and courteous service. They have some nice amps, too.

Re: Novice tube Amp Question...?

I'm surprised more 401 owners didn't smack me around for not recommending the mods you had done!

D'oh!

Those should have been some of the first words I posted, oh well, you got them done and if you're happy with the tone, all the better but most still change the tubes from the stockers because I hear they don't sound very good.

One of our members even added a vent to his and changed the speaker out to a Vintage 30.

Fuchs amps rock!

A buddy of mine is endorsed by them and his just kick ass!

Re: Novice tube Amp Question...?

Mine is a very early one (1999),and I was told that it had
better tubes than the later production DSLs.
I'll definitely try aftermarket tubes soon!
Thanks again for the help!!!
