I just found a great deal on e****. I purchased an almost brand new (condition wise) TSL601 for $500.00. I played through it for a couple of weeks and liked the amp a lot, but I decided to try a few mods because I am looking a particular tone (Gary Moore, but slightly different).

Anyway, I emailed Celestion and the speaker they recommended was the G12T-75, so I ordered and installed it. The next thing I did was contact a tube specialist in CA about replacing the power tubes. He recommended the Tung-Sol EL34-B. He said he thought they were the best overall EL34's he'd tested and thought it would improve the tone. So I ordered and installed these. The amp is now with a tech who is rebiasing the tubes. I still have the original speaker and tubes, just in case I find I like the original tone better.

My question is: Has anyone tried similar mods with a TSL amp and what are your impressions? Thanks for opinions.
