long questioin about Marshalls

ACTUALLY SOMebody gave this to me along with a a Yamaha EC 112..the guitar is pretty cool...i borrowed a epiphone goldtop but it kept going outta tune so fast...like 3 songs and the D string was shot...or the B...i cant figue that out...why cant a guitar company make a guitar that stays in tune?...when youre on stage..nerves and all...the last thing you want is to turn your attention away from the audience to tune up...am i wrong here?...well the Yamaha is better...the Strat Squier was terrific..that never went out of tune..laste week Tuesday i played a gig...bout an hour...at Luke's Place in Hawi , Hawaii...it was perfect...i had people coming after the gig and shaking my hand..my singer...whos not ALL that good...but she's cool...was freaking.....the amp?...well its got about a thousand links ...you can dial in blackface..tweed...about 20 amp settings..i mean ill never own a blackface...i play bar/restaurant gigs with a chick singer.we are a novelty act...i write funny country western songs and some heartbreakers...so all i have to do ..is be heard...ththe audience dont care to much if i have a tube sound or not.....one bar has a PA..so if i just go on stage with this tiny amp and turn it up to 10 on the volume its enuff...clear...the other restaurant i play 3 times a week i use a Kruger Gallien 100 and 2 Marshall speakers for the PA..seems ok...funny...yesterday i forgot to plug the 2 marshall cabs to the GK...so the PA was all thru the dumb 2 small speakers in the 100 watt amp...Hawaii doesnt have alot of eqipment..never see a les paul...mostly slack ket acoustic set ups.i dont mess around with the dico-sounds this amp has...yeah..id like to play thru a super reverb..just to see what its like..this has gotta do..this GDEC...what im saying is if you have your own style music...you can just sort of use what you can come up with....thank God for that...i always think my next gig is gonna be shut down,,,but i did 22 gigs in the last 30 days...i may be getting popular..but its too hard to break in to...young people would be discouraged...i read in Las Vegas they dont even pay musicians...thats terrible...because why would anyone want to play then?....your wife would really have to wonder...question ..whay marshall gives a deep reverb disco romantic swirling sound for a romantic heart break tune??dsl 100?

The SLX-2100 with a reverb pedal you keep avoiding buying from me!

Just kidding. No sure what Marshall would do the disco thing but I suppose any of them but there's not enough reverb, besides you need like an envelope filter for that funk/disco sound like a vibe or q-tron.

I'll check that sound out.....

In front of my VM 2266 tonight!!

Re: long questioin about Marshalls

Shoot what do you think folks were playing back then? All of the cover chinka chinka bands were using Marshall's (not me I was using stereo boogies).

I know what you want, you want a boutique amp with fur lined handles with sparkly tolex!

Resistance is futile

Re: long questioin about Marshalls

Admittedly, the SLX-2100 isn't the ideal amp for disco but after a few drinks who's gonna notice?!

They'll just think, dang, that guitar player likes to play his Bee Gees with an edge!

ok i dont even understand how someone could logically repl to this thread i didnt understand where any of it was going.

about guitars going out of tune: guitar companies make guitars that stay in tune but gibson likes to skimp on just about everything because people keep buying the les paul because it makes them "a real man"

Re: long questioin about Marshalls

I'm thinking that although stock hippie was asking a legit question that this thread doesn't need to be taken too seriously....

Re: long questioin about Marshalls

Oh btw stock hippie you may have had an epi with a bad tuner but I've seen this happen with other guitars where the D or G goes out faster than the others. It depends some on the gauge and type of strings and how they were prepped before the gig.

I really stretch my strings when I reinstall, use only certain types of strings depending on what tuning the guitar will be used for, I check the fretboard, do a drop of nut sauce on the nut slots each re-string, check the saddles etc. I've changed all of my LP bridges and tail pieces to Tone Pros and when I tune after a good stretch, I check for intonation as well.

I realize this wasn't your epiphone but thought I'd mention the process.

Enjoy bro!
