Thumbs up Tips on the Marshall TSL 601

Hey guys

Just got the above amp from ebay. All seems to be functional and I'm happy. Any advice on how to get the best from this bugger. I'm thinking settings and upgrades. I think everything is stock (not 100% though). I play heavy rock kind of stuff verging into metal.

Anything you've learned and can pass on appreciated. One thing I was wondering about is the clean channel volume..or lack of...

Cheers

Mike

I asume the 601 is the 60 watt version of the TSL122?

If that is the case, congrats. If it sounds anything like mine, nothing more to say.

I play a small venu atm And use the volumes on both the crunch and lead channels at about 1 and a half. The clean channel I have both gain and volume about 3 to 4. I dont see a whole lot of difference between the gain and volume but I notice keeping them equal seems a bit fuller than a little gain and alot of volume or visa versa

On my crunch chan I have gain at about 12 aclock For most of my rythems and cleaner leads. And on lead channel about 3 oclock or more on the gain. I always use the Deep buttons in. And presents on clean about 1 or 2 oclock but on lead/crunch about 4 oclock. When theres a thicker crowd Ill kick up the presents and THEN volume if neccessary.

Works for me anywho. Hope that helped a little.
