Re: EQ+ Marshall JCM 900
The BEST thing to do is just try it yourself. Classic rock tone is sort of subjective, and so you might want to suggest some bands that you think has a similar sound to the tone you're looking for, or mention specific songs. I think the tone might also have to do with what guitar and pick-ups you're using.

Re: EQ+ Marshall JCM 900
travismbrown, how do you see things in terms of playing musically?`Are you playing just for fun in your room, as a hobby, or are you playing in a band, or are you trying to make something of your own? Depending on your approach to guitar play, you might want to think twice about trying to replicate someone else's sound. But, if you just want to have fun, then do like steelhorse suggested: look up what equipment the artist used, and if you can, what he used on that song. If it's the studio version's sound you're looking for, then getting that sound will be that much harder than getting a live sound.

Re: EQ+ Marshall JCM 900
I had a JCM900 50 watter, and it desperately needed the low frequencies boosted. That amp had no bass at all.
