Question Guys, Is the JCM600 head anygood??

I have the chance to pick up a JCM600 head for about $350.00. Is this a good head, I play JCM900s and a Vintage modern. Would this be something you guys would get??/ I have never heard much about these amps. Any reviews or thoughts would be appreciated, Thanks,
Brandt

Just trade me your VM for my DSL100 and forget about the 600.

I never tried one, but I know that the the jcm600 is
the sequel of the jtm-series I like; I guess the two heads
are more or less the same.

I guess for 350 bucks its a nice amp to get!
In case you don't like it: sell it for 450

I just though for mellow stuff and, well, I have eternal GAS and I want everything thing I see. Might grab it up for my AVT 412 cab, it's the same size and my son could learn on it. He's 4!!!!!

Re: Question Guys, Is the JCM600 head anygood??

To objectively answer this question ...

The JCM600 series of amplifiers sound very much like the old Super Lead 100s.

They are a bit more practical for small to medium venue usage because they are only 60 watts. I like the fact that they have reverb which you can independently control on each of the two channels, and they have two seperate effect send circuits. One is series and the other is parallel.

The one I have is a single 12 inch speaker (JCM601) and is perfect for clubs ... BUT ... the amp can effectively be used in any situation by using the XLR output on the back panel wisely and correctly. The amplifier is small enough and light enough to transport in a car, even in it's road case.

It howls much better and sweeter than the solid state models. It IS all tubes. 12AX7s and EL34s.

The distortion (Overdrive) channel works great on mine. I use a Roland GP8 rack mount analog effects rack system with the FS100 and the EV5 so having the ability of distortion/overdrive pre-effects make it much easier to get many of the sounds I want when playing.

I do a very wide variety of music and this amp does it all fine for me.

Let me say that amplifier choice is a matter of preference and depends on what YOU want to hear when you play. Always keep this in mind when others criticize the model you are asking about.

I loved my old Super Lead 100 (1972 model) ... but to get one of those now requires a very large bank account, and the JCM600 series can get the same sound and is much more versatile.
