Re: Just Got New Tubes For My DSL 100

Holy moly watch out for red plating a tube when the bias wanders up high like that.

Re: Just Got New Tubes For My DSL 100

At the risk of sounding stupid. I'm assuming turning counter clockwise will "cool" the side.

I'm obviously way off balance here, One at 180 one at like 10

Be careful, at those #'s you could red plate and mess your amp up.

It takes very small, I mean VERY small adjustments 1 side at a time because the reading will see-saw. In other words when you bring one side up the other will go down, so you have to get the idle balanced so they're even on each side.

Re: Just Got New Tubes For My DSL 100

Smaller turns at a time. Very small turns. Take the one that is at 180 and turn it clockwise. Which way did it go?

K i've got the left at like 79 and the right at 5-10. Way out of whack but I feel a little more safe now.

I'm around 55-65. So I'm making some progress I think...

Now to get them to about 80...

Update: 84.7 and 87ish.

Sorry about that bro, I kept saying almost the same thing like a delay, but more like an analogue!

Looks like we saved an amp from blowing!

Re: Just Got New Tubes For My DSL 100

Nice. Check it out by now playing through it and see what you think. If it's breaking up too soon for you cool it down. It will drift some in the next few days as you play it so check it again and see where you're at and enjoy the new tubes!

Which tube kit did you get btw?

That's high imo. Dial it back just a tiny tiny bit so you get closer to 84-85 each side.

Re: Just Got New Tubes For My DSL 100

Its probably gone up a little the hotter the tubes get. Adjust down to where you want it. You know how it works now. Personally I would cool it down to 80 or 85 and see how it sounds. Its up to you.

Well it felt hot and I was wondering if that was normal well before I took the readings. Then when I saw the reading and realized it was 180(lol), I new I was in trouble and raced around the house looking for some kind of screw driver and got it down to like 40 each and then started adjusting. But thanks for the help, It came easier after I realized what was going on and how sensitive the screws are.

And the tubes are 4 JJ ECC83 S and 4 Svetlana EL34's

Re: Just Got New Tubes For My DSL 100

Man never got to blast the amp yet but I had it on last night and man these tubes blow the stock ones that were in it away, which I think were Groove Tubes and Marshal factory ones?. It sounds better at lower volumes for sure.
