It's a standard tip, not phillips. The adjustment screw on these is plastic, too. I've always used a small metal precision screwdriver. Even if you accidentally touch the hot lead, we're only talking about 40mV or so. You could get a bigger shock touching a 9v battery. You only need a plastic or insulated screwdriver if you're poking around inside the amp.

Use the same too. I've had no issues.

Re: Just Got New Tubes For My DSL 100

Mine is definitely a phillips head adjustment 'screw' you just need to look and check your amp to see what you need flat tip or phillips, it's very simple.

The DSL may come with a flat head type I've not looked at it yet, but my TSL is definitely phillips head and I presumed they were the same.

Re: Just Got New Tubes For My DSL 100

k i have a problem...Just got the multi meter today. Installed the tubes, But I'm not getting a reading. It's staying at 00.0 when I use the red pin. Set to 200M DCV on the one from euro tubes...Help?

I'm supposed to have the head still plugged into the cab right?

Re: Just Got New Tubes For My DSL 100

Always have it plugged into a speaker load/cab. You need to take the amp off standby to get a reading.

Yes it's in a speaker cab. and off standby meaning the black switch on "on" but I'm getting no reading using the red peg on any of the 3 pongs...

Also be sure the leads are connected to the correct inputs.

Black lead connected to the COM port, red to the 10ADC.

You have the black lead hooked up to the center prong on your amp while you are touching the red lead off?

I have those inserted correctly. But what do I do with the black end? does it do nothing? I'm using the Red to take the reads and the black for nothing?

You only touch the red lead to the right and left prongs on the amp. The black lead needs to be on the center prong while you do this.

You should get some kind of reading. Be sure the leads are inserted into the DMM all the way.

Re: Just Got New Tubes For My DSL 100

On the multimeter is your black lead plugged into the com hole? Is your red lead plugged into the VmA hole? These holes should be next to each other. I got my multimeter from eurotubes as well.

Don't plug the red lead into the 10ADC hole on your multimeter.

I actually got a reading using the mA slot with the red one. Should I go by those readings? They were hovering around 30-40..

Between 80 and 90 mV for the 100 and 40-45 mV for the 50

Re: Just Got New Tubes For My DSL 100

Ok. With a 100 you are reading 2 power tubes at a time. So your numbers would be around 70 to 90 unless its really out of whack. 30 or 40 on mine would be good because I only have 2 power tubes and it reads 1 at a time. Have you seen the vid on eurotubes biasing the DSL100?

Yah Steelhorse is giving you the proper numbers Marshall recomends when you set the bias. Let us know if you get in that range.

70 is too cold imo. I have my DSL100 set at 83 and it's perfect for head room and crunch. Less than that and I might as well have a Fender!

Yah I know. I just thought he should be getting a reading closer to that neighborhood. Not as a final bias. Before biasing.

Re: Just Got New Tubes For My DSL 100

I actually run my bias around 34/35mv's but I also read plate voltage to get that number. Sounds way better than at 45mv which is too hot for mine. My plate voltage was actually 470 with the Tung Sol EL34B's.
