Re: VM Combo Question.
Yes, the amp in high dynamic range has an added gain stage in the preamp, so you will have a lot more gain in that setting; if your Detail and Body settings are low enough, it could seem like a volume boost. If you crank Detail and Body to high settings, the volume difference may not be as great but you will hear a definite gain difference.

Re: VM Combo Question.
You need to join the Vintage Modern Forum the builder/engineer
of the amp from Marshall is a regular there, and the website is just dripping with great info and settings for the VM there are alot of combo owners there to, here is the link the VM is very different amp its basicaly a HotModded JTM45 that had a gain stage and mid boost added. You can do some cool stuff with that mid boost and the "Body" preamp the Body preamp should stay at about 5 unless you use the Mid boost, then you can even crank the Body http://vintagemodern.informe.com/ .. |

Re: VM Combo Question.
I have registered with the VM Forum, some great stuff on there.

Both sound amazing. I also have a Clapton strat with lace sensors but it feels too compressed for the VM. The vintage style single coils (with all their hum and grit) work wonders with the VM. |
