can i daisy chain with line out?
i belong to a mg100 HDFX. with the emulated line out. i know absolutely nothing about these things (emulated line out) and was unable to find wat i needed to know from the other threads...
i was wondering if u can run a cable from the line out into the input of another amp... ?? like i said i have no clue how these things work so this may be the dumbest question in the world. but the reason i ask is b/c i have found a sound that i love thru this mg100 but i want the krunch of my tube head... i appreciate any help i can get... thanks. Re: can i daisy chain with line out?
Ok, I'll give it a shot. Yes you can. All it is, is a signal going out. The tone on amp #2 will be determined by where you plug it in on that amp. If you plug it into the front of amp #2 (normal guitar input), you will be pre-amping twice because your line out on amp #1 is "post" pre-amp. If your 2nd amp has a pre-amp in (on the back), you'll be bypassing the 2nd amps preamp, therefore using only the 1st amps tone. Also, if you use the pre-amp in on the 2nd amp you can control both amps with the 1st amps volume control.
Wow, even I'm confused. Should work but wear safety glasses and have a first aid kit on standby. Seriously, I do believe this to be correct.

Re: can i daisy chain with line out?
As long as you start with volumes low, and move up carefully, theres no risk to the gear. You may have a level mismatch, with a very large signal from the Mg line out doing too much overdrive of the second amp.
The line out from the Mg is probably "cab simulated" which means it is filtered to have the response of a guitar speaker (more bass, mid dip and high treble cut), so it can go directly to a full range PA or recording set up. Taking that signal and feeding back through another amp and cab will give it a double dose of guitar cab sound - it may be a bit wooly sounding. Or it may be great and awesomely heavy. If you want a more honest setup, ie amplify the tone of the Mg through the valve amp, without asing more preamp or cab simulation, a better way, if you have these connections, would be a cord from Mg effects send to second amp effects return. These are more likley to be using similar signal levels, and do not involve extra filtering. John |

Re: can i daisy chain with line out?
Send from the amp your guitar is plugged into to the return of the second amp. That way, you still have your MG's channels and power amp, and just the tube power amp from the second amp.
I have an Artist 30 which is Marshall's first attempt at a hybrid. It has a solid state 2 channel preamp, and an EL34 power section. It makes for a cleaner clean channel than the average Marshall, and a Metal Zone into a JCM800 boost channel. I think they made a mistake with the Valvestate series by putting a single preamp tube into a solid state power amp. |

(using a avt 150 1st amp with guitar into it and vm as the second amp. im trying to get the avt to go through the vm (vintage modern). like to have the fx from the avt to come through the vm.
