Re: All new owners of 6100's...welcome to the dark side

Hey guys! I regrettably find myself having to sell my 6101LM combo. I figured with existing and new users around here, you guys could perhaps give me an idea of how much I should be asking for it.

It is not the blue tolex one, it is black. It's the LM. Purchased brand new here in Ottawa, Canada, I believe the year was 1994. It has the Celestion speaker. It is triple-mint (seriously, ab-so-lu-te-ly impeccable), always been in my non-smoking den. No dings, no dents, no scratches, flawless. No scratchy pots or switches, nothing wrong what so ever. No mods what so ever, 100% original, except for the tubes. I did a full re-tube and bias last year with JJs. I also kept the original factory Marshall ECC83 and Sovtek 6L6WGC which are still good. I have the original footswitch that came with it, and I seriously have not used it even once (I use MIDI to switch the channels with my multi-effects board).

Any advice on what my asking price should be will be very much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Are you being forced to sell due to the economy? A member recently bought a blue version for $500. I would try to keep it. Good luck

Don't really keep their value. But value to the owners on here is another story.

Re: All new owners of 6100's...welcome to the dark side

I spent some time with my 6100 today. I'm loving it since the Bias was tweaked. I finally hear Channel 3 as it should be, tons of drive and sustain along with great power chord "Thunk". I can't wait to get some better tubes. Need to get a job...

Yepp that's a real good amp!
I was considering to change the tubes for TAD 6L6 Black plates but I'm skeptical since these tubes are not from the same family as EL34s.
Can someone clarify on this?
Thanks

If you want to go from el34's to 6l6 you will need to do a conversion. If you go with the 6l6's you lose that British flavor that the el34's give.

I think I'd take Megan over the plates, but it'd be a close one!

As soon as I figure out how to crop pics, the Megan pic will only be of her rack system.

HAHAHA
We unfortunately can't do these sort of thins in the Nordics or Europe...

Well back to my post on chaning EL34s for 6L6, I think I won't touch the guts of the 6101 and stick to EL34s.
