Buying a 1971 Super Lead 100

I'm new to Marshalls (I have a Reinhardt Fat Albert, a TW Rocket clone, and a Carol-Ann OD2 100), and I have the opportunity to purchase a 1971 PTP Super Lead 100w with laydown transformer. I've attached thumbnails of it; I was wondering why it doesn't have "JMP" on the front panel and was told it was possibly a Canadian version. Can someone take a look at the photos and perhaps either confirm or unconfirm this...Do all 71s have "JMP" on them?
Any help to this newbie is much appreciated. It looks like the real deal, but I want to be sure before I spend the money.

Re: Buying a 1971 Super Lead 100

That amp was modded, probably with a master volume. Any details on what that pot does on the back panel?

In terms of the JMP identification on the amp, I think that Marshall was somewhat inconsistent over the years,so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Do you have a serial number? Any other markings like CSA?

The laydown PT does suggest that it would be a Canadian model.

For reference, you might want to checkout this page - have a look at the '71 Marshalls.

Lightbulb Re: Buying a 1971 Super Lead 100

OP:

I basically was trying to figure out the same thing you are. From what I gathered the polarity switch was used on "export" models and used to change the direction of the 2 prong plug instead of turning off the amp and switching it around.. I would suggest you ground the amp anyway and that switch will become void. I don't think the JMP would fit on the 3 switch models so that is probably why they aren't on there. These amps are old and some need more work than others so use your ears to tell if things should be changed or not. Good luck on finding your tone monster!
