Can anyone help identify this amp?

Hello,

I have managed to inherit this old marshall amp (see pics), just wondering if anyone could give me some background info on what it is..model, age etc?...dont have much knowledge of older marshall amps

Also wondering if it is worth anything and worth keeping hold of?? I love the sound off it so will be keeping regardless but just curious

Any response/info much appreciated!

Cheers

That looks to be a late '69 metal panel (not a plexi) 1987 50 watt lead series amp. Nice score.

I would love to be able to inherit something like that. It's definitely a keeper. If I had one I wouldn't ever be getting rid of it.

Yeah, looks exaclty the same as mine, serial is S/A so it could be a 71 if memory serves, JMP 50W. Very rare and collectible. Mine fell into my lap as well, whats going on! Good job her old man didn't realise what he was on about when he gave it to me!

Quality amp make, looks in good nick too!

Oh, and by the way, should be worth between £1200 & £2000 depending if all the parts are original and in good nick. Any idea when it was last serviced?

That's an awesome amp. I once had a head like that... It was a early 70's Mark II , modded for master volume. Man I regret selling that. You have a killer amp there.... good luck with it, and hang on to it.

Re: Can anyone help identify this amp?

Yeah.....the reason they got rid of that old piece of junk is because they can be bad for your health, particularly your hearing. Send it to me and I can properly dispose of it for you....LOL!

Wow. SWEET !!!
Why can't I ever come across stuff like that?

Like a house full of old 58 standards LP's or strats! I have an issue of Vintage guitar from a few months back and on the cover is a totally mint Broadcaster some guy bought at a garage sale for 100.00 in 1997. He did not even play guitar but recognized the fender name.

The finds are out there sometimes youdon't even have to look sometimes they come to you!

Congrats!

Im afraid i have no idea, its been in a loft for around 10 years, and not sure on its origins before that....going to take it to get one this weekend though.

How often do you recommend getting them serviced out of interest?

Re: Can anyone help identify this amp?

Depends on your level of usage and amount of gigs etc, but I'd say once a year can't do it any harm. Just make sure its by someone reputable, if not Marshall themselves.
