Re: JMP Plexi?

The size of the head box was the same from '72 on, although just like the metal panels being released in late '69 I'm sure they began rolling out the standard head box size on 50 watters as early as late '71. Only on the pre-'71/'72 50 watters did they use the "small box" head cabinets. The 50 watters however did not have the top vent on the head cab that was standard on the 100 watters.

S/A5541C

S/A = 50 Watt

C = 1971

5541 - Serial Number

If it were a 100 watter, the first two letters would be SL/A rather than S/A.

Re: JMP Plexi?

Ha ha ha ha..... I can feel my horns poking through my forehead as I speak... BUT.... if you want to sell it and we can agree the right market price for over here in the UK, I would consider your amp.. Ha ha ha.... just when you were reconciled to keeping it - temptation.

Actually I had a very nice Marshall JMP in the late 1980's... I bought it from a musical exchange the equivalent of a UK pawn shop and I had a choice of 3 or 4 heads! (@£200-240 each - now it would be a Porn shop, should have bought them all.) ... bought one... loved it.... many people admired its sound through the 2x4 so I sold it to a lad I was giving guitar lessons to... for about the same as I paid for it £180.

A year or so later I asked where it was and did he want to sell it back to me (there is a moral) he said it stopped working one day so he threw it out! God Help Us All... I know they were cheap and unwanted then, but Hells Teeth.

Anyway the offer is there, I don't know if the prices quoted are a representation of its value here in the UK, but I would be happy to pay its market value if we can determine it and it is still in my price bracket.

jclark@uku.co.uk if you get 'the urge!' I pass the Midlands every few weeks.

Ha ha ha... now... where did I put my Trident, I am off to roast some sinners... who sold their Marshalls!

Re: JMP Plexi?

Hmmm. I'm gonna keep you in mind buddy, but at the moment I'm holding onto it. Just done a recording with it and its sounding good. I think I would really regret it in years to come if I sold it out now. However, I am moving into a new place in less than a few weeks and if it hits desperation times I may reconsider, I've made a note of your email address all the same.

Cheers pal.
