If you can find real Mullards that would be the best (imo). Hard to find though, try searching ebay or used tv/radios.

But if you are looking for new tubes check out Groove Tubes and Tung Sol.

12AX7 is the model of tube, you've gotta look for the right brand, different brands have completely different sounds.

Re: Vintage 100 watt Marshall tremolo plexi 67-69

I know EL34 & 12AX7 are the model but what would be the closest to stock I could get with out breaking the bank. I know the Tremolo is made for organs from the catalog like a super bass for bass. It has a TIM CASWELL MOD. and I would like to try to put the right year on this amp but the back plate is broke off and gone where the serial number would be. Any help please....

Re: Vintage 100 watt marshall tremelo plexi 67-69

Marshall made only one model for organ, the 50w model 1989. ('66 - '75)
Tremolo was an option on most models until mid 70's.

If you have a 100w Plexi with tremolo its a Super Tremolo, model T1959.
The same amp as the Super Lead (1959), but with an added tremolo.
It's written on the backside of the amp.

The panel for the back side is missing the serial number and name of the amp I'm hoping some one can help me date the amp and any information on it.

Re: Vintage 100 watt marshall tremelo plexi 67-69

Looks like a late '67, early '68 Super Tremolo from the 12-series to me,
but it's hard to say from the pictures and I don't know the mod the amp have.

Take some better pictures, and post them at the Metro Amp forum.
People there will tell you how to bring this amp back to original, and tell
you exactly what model it is.

This is a amp you should do some work with to bring back the original
sound and look. You should get some great Plexi sounds from that amp.

If those speakers are original to the cab, then the cab is pre '66

Re: Vintage 100 watt marshall tremelo plexi 67-69

From what I know Marshall started using Greenbacks very early '66.
Before that they used Celestion 15w alnico speakers.
They were the same speakers that was used in Vox amps.
The speakers were painted blue, later silver for Vox.
The speakers that Marshall used were silver, without the magnet cover
that Vox speakers had.
I have Greenbacks from March and April '66, so silver alnicos has to be earlier
than that.
You have to post som pictures og that cab. It could be a '64 or '65 cab.
