Aloha from the ISLANDS!!!!
New to Marshall, New to Forum.... NOT new to tubes!!
So I just picked up a used TSL 60 and after taking off the screen around back and wiping everything down, removing the tubes and cleaning the contact points and re-seating all the tubes, I noticed the output transformer is NOT the original one. The amp sounds fine (great really) but the power doesn't seem to be at a full 60 watts. I checked the bias and that is a steady 75 mA. (this is a 60, not a 100... 100's run at 80-90 per side.) Next order of business was to compare (unfairly) the TSL next to my Mesa Boogie Express 5:25. The TS is going through a 1960 Lead (cut in half, so its a 2 X 12... DON't ASK!) and the Mesa is going through its own 1 X 10 open back plus a 1 X 10 extension, also open back. The Mesa is louder than the TSL!!! Is my T.S.L. S.O.L.??? Or am I missing something??? How would I go about diagnosing the Output as well as the Power Transformer. By the way, replaced the pre- and power tubes with JJ's and rebiased already! Thanks for ANY advise or comments!!!
