Who I am
Just to let everyone know who slowhandgoldtop is, here are a few lines. I am a white male, 57 years old who has been playing music since I was about 12 years old. I currently am retired ( 33 years as a school / college history teacher). I have and currently am playing in a band that does country, blues, rock, and classic rock and country. I play a number of guitars, my favorite being a 1960 goldtop Les Paul and a 1958 Les Paul Standard. My amps include a Peavy 112 Bandit, Fender Chorus, and a Marshall AVT50, which sounds great. ALways wanted a Marshall but not until they went the combo route did I actually get one. I hope it is going to work well in the small clubs that we are going to gig in. I have been married to the same woman for 30 years and we have two sons, one of which makes music for a living. I am really interested in Marshall amps now that they have modernized to maintaining the "Marshall Sound" but in an amp that can play the small venues in the areas that I live. Have no desire to play large venues such as stadiums. Been there done that! I like the small club atmosphere. Hope this was not too much to bore anyone with. If you have any information about Marshall amps you would like to share I would like to hear from you. Thanks; slowhandgoldtop

Re: Who I am
Welcome slowhandgoldtop,
I find it kinda humorous that you shared all those details of your life with us, but only made casual mention of the 2 vintage Les Pauls you own. Of course you realize you can't just say that without showing pics, and telling stories about the guitars. Also, if you haven't already, you must visit here: Vintage Les Pauls - Les Paul Forum Welcome, Adam |

Re: Who I am
I just re-read your first post, and I think you may have a problem. It would be blasphemy to play those vintage Les Pauls through any modern amp. But the problem is that a proper Marshall for those guitars is going to be loud. You've got a big (but wonderful) problem my friend.
