monster cable all the way
I just got a monster cable a couple weeks ago, the best cable i've ever played. It keeps alot of the noise out of the way and i don't a noise reduction.
It's a 12ft rock cable. I recomend to get one!

Re: monster cable all the way
Thrash...true words...
I use the gold end rock monster cables for guitar to pedalboard and pedalboard to amp. Absolutely love them. Even the speaker cables I use for my amps are monsters. They make great stuff. Now in all fairness...I am also impressed with the products being put out by George L, Planet Wave and Fulltone. All great cables as well. Bottom line...invest in good cables and don't pull the $10 special off the music store display wall. |

Re: monster cable all the way
I've had no problems with my Monster cables. Great products with exceptional build quality.
I use two 12' rock cables between guitar/pedal board/amp and a 3' studio pro between amp and cabinet. They fit perfectly. |

Re: monster cable all the way
I can't remember exactly what I paid for my Mogami cable, somewhere around .80 cents/foot for 2524 . I usually don't buy prebuilt cables, just because they are so much more expensive. (for good quality). But I think for the most part, the connectors is where they get ya on cost. Straigh 1/4" TS connectors are relatively cheap, but once you strart using 90 deg connectors, you're looking at about $4-$6 on average for each connector. If you take into account the quantity of connectors needed for a rack or pedalboard. You can easily spend a couple hundred bucks on cable and connectors alone.

Re: monster cable all the way
I have so many cables in my system. I have *thinking* around 10 and could be more. I just am running mono too so if I even thought about going stereo I would have at least a couple more. I would have to spend so much more money to get all good cables. I haven't noticed a problem yet, but defiantly like I previous stated, having a couple good cable connected to your guitar and amp is safe because cheap cables will come loose.
Back on topic. I noticed with Monster cables things sound more processed and produce high pitch squeals. Any one else ever have those problems. I had tons of them way back and I thought they changed the tone in a bad way. Mogami sounds normal and doesn't have buzz. (that to me is a good cable) |

Re: monster cable all the way
Roll your own!
I make all my own cables. Mostly, I use Wonder Solder, Canare cable and Neutrik connectors, but for guitar stuff I use the Switchcraft angled 1/4" jacks. I just like the way they look, they have class. Markertek Buy cable in bulk and make better cables then the big guys for almost nothing! (I'm not affiliated with any of the above, just a firm believer in wise spending) |

Re: monster cable all the way
I've been happy with Radial, Yorkville, Peavey and DiMarzio Cables. The Apex shorties I've been using between my pedals have proven solid for me too. I don't generally use a cable for playing, I use a Wireless, so my cables don't have to move once they've been laid out for a show or rehearsal.

I have several circuit breaker and regular planet waves, zero problems. Lays like any other quality cable imo. I like PW's I also have some that we ordered that have neutrix ends but we also roll our own George L's which compared to the PW's are stiff and cumbersome but they seem to work well and our guys order the stuff by the roll.

Re: monster cable all the way
I use 2 x fulltone 15ft for amp fx loop to pedalboard and 2 x fulltone 10ft for guitar pedalboard and pedalboard to amp. I only use a few pedals like delay, EQ, OD, crybaby and tuner so the connections between them are a mix of fulltone 6" cables and some homemade 6" cables with neutrik jacks.
I have a spare Planetwaves 10ft cable also but prefer the fulltone.. not sure why as I can't really hear any difference between them.

Re: monster cable all the way
I have only a pair of monsters which are very low noise and that it what i use with my multieffect, when i go straight into my DSL i use a generic cable, it used to be crappy, but iŽm lazy and preffered to use that cable instead of getting the monsters out of the multieffect bag since i use it only when going out and play with my MG.
i finally decided to change the connectors to Neutrik on my crappy cable and it magically started sounding good, on crappy cables what i have noticed is that when new they sound sort of good, but with some use, the tip is able to turn freely, this is a low quality connector, once you change the connector and make good solder it should be fine for jamming, low noise on the ones i have, recording would be different since youŽll be registering the extra noises Even within Monster cables there are different connectors and cable composition, i have a strong background on computers networks and work for an automotive industry, some time ago "the cable made all the difference" and it really ended up beign the connectors most of the time, the cable composition, and shielding very seldom made a difference, with production processes of today, it will take an extremelly bad cable (cooper, and shield material) to be an issue, chinese cables or lower quality cables are bad because of connectors, the conductors are more or less the same, something to remember is that even the finest cable, made of a solid conductor gets stressed (bending, twisting, etc) with use, so you should change cables every now and then hope i make some sense on this |

Re: monster cable all the way
I use a Monster cable to run my board to my amp, but that's only because I've broken this thing like 3-4 times and have gotten zero flack about replacing it at the store. The warranty is pretty nice on these things. I'm sure there are sonically better cables, but the convenience of the Monsters kinda rules.
