Re: HELP! I need a story fast...
Reverse their logic...
It was $200 dollars off...so you see Dear, I "saved" money by buying it.

Re: HELP! I need a story fast...
Good call! It WAS the $399 "sale" that made me go for it...

Re: HELP! I need a story fast...
Yup, reality is I have walked it around the house and I don't think she can tell the difference from the '66. Thank God I was the only one home when the UPS man showed up - bwahaha...

Re: HELP! I need a story fast...
In our area we have a local afternoon radio show called "Garage Logic". It's all about how guys make sense, with a little politics thrown in. This is a clear case of the 48 hour rule:
The 48-Hour Rule or "You Had Your Chance" This rule was established on March 5, 2002 and is as follows: As a reward for a fellow sneaking new and inexpensive cylinders into the Crisis Center and also escaping any female wrath that might accrue from said purchase, the fellow may make up any story he wishes after 48 hours regarding the acquisition. In other words, she gets 48 hours to notice the purchase and complain. If she misses her window, you are home free. "This old thing," you might say, when, after a week, she finally does notice, "that thing has been here since July." Here is a link to the rest of the Garage Logic 'rules'. They are pretty much spot on ![]() Garage Logic with Joe Soucheray | 1500 ESPN Twin Cities ? Minnesota Sports News & Opinion (Twins, Vikings, Wolves, Wild, Gophers) |

Re: HELP! I need a story fast...
No stories here ... I just buy, and let the chips fall where they land. My Old Lady is reasonable most times. Last "reactive" episode was when I bought a 1960B cab. She was more concerned about space ... "where's it gonna go?", till I told her my A cab sits nicely on top.
Cheers, Barrie.

Re: HELP! I need a story fast...
Didn't it fall through an inter-dimensional rift ?
Just keep one in a case, she'll never notice. My current fave: Oh that ? I put that together out of parts (insert scapegoat friend name) gave me a while back.

Re: HELP! I need a story fast...
My wife would never know...Like if I get a new driver in my golf bag. They don't have the same attention for detail for inanimate objects like guys do. Just ask your wife what the number plate of the car is (unless it's a personal)....they won't have a clue. Women have pets, men have stuff.

Re: HELP! I need a story fast...
What I do is buy her everything she wants whenever she wants, and then when I see something I like it's not a big deal if we can afford it. She's very money-concious so she doesn't go nuts anyways. :P
Man, that sounded a lot less selfish in my head. |

![]() I might be able to get away with a couple small amps, but anything bigger than a 1x12 combo would probably get noticed if she went downstairs.

Re: HELP! I need a story fast...
If I really, really had to keep it a secret, I'd just hide it in the gun safe. She doesn't know the combo. I've told it to her plenty of times, but unless it has to do with sales dates at women's clothing stores, she doesn't do well with numbers. All my guns look alike to her too, so I have real good there. She does have a bit of an eye for watches though, so I can't sneak in a new Breitling or Sinn without her asking about it.

Re: HELP! I need a story fast...
There's your opportunity.
Next time you get a really nice guitar also get yourself a watch and "accidently" leave it laying around somewhwere but also have the guitar in plain sight. The watch being a decoy will keep her attention while you are restringing the new axe, then you apologize and the both of you go back to the store to return the watch. By the time you get home (also throw in a nice lunch on the way) the strings will have stretched out properly and she will be thinking of ways to be nice to her unselfish husband. |

Re: HELP! I need a story fast...
I was reading this thread initially feeling guilty over how we manipulate women...
Then I came to my senses. Men manipulating women? POT. KETTLE. BLACK. That's like saying that the mouse tricks the cat into chasing it...

Re: HELP! I need a story fast...
If you can rationalize it to some extent like my recently aquired Fender Precision Bass ... "it was half the price of retail and no tax!"
Cheers, Barrie.
