Sick of Dean
Is any one else sick of Dean guitars putting using the death of Dime to sell guitars. I work at a guitar store which sells Deans and we refuse to order any Dimes except the high end ones. I cant believe that Dean would put Dimes name on a guitar that is a piece of crap. I love Dime and he is the reason that i play guitar and it makes me sick that someone would use his death for profit. i can see putting out one or two guitars in memory but not 27 guitars with only 6 being USA made. They even put out a Dime bass, i mean come on, show some respeact.

Re: Sick of Dean
It is a bit ugly. Making money seems to be all that matters these days.
On a positive note. The Razorback that Dimebag designed just before he died is a master piece. It's a killer looking guitar. It's hard to come up with a new guitar shape but IMO Darrel did just that. The Razorback is a lot more than a modified Dean ML. .50

Re: Sick of Dean
Well, I do know some details about that deal I'd like to share.
First off Dean and Dime were good friends. Dean was devistated about what happened to Dime. These are the actual guitars that Dime designed with Dean as a coach. This was all planned out to get Damagplan on track as well the new line of guitars. Without putting out a long and boring explanation I just wanted to state that all of this was Dime's wishes. His contract with Dean Guitars details how to continue in case of his death as most contracts do. More importanatly he did the responsible thing and is providing for his family even after his death. His estate run by his family, Vinnie and Rita are all acting out Dime's wishes. The Six String Masterpiece auction all went to charity and also helped put a final close to Dime's death. So I guess you can look at it different ways, that they are exploiting Dime or that everytime you or someone else plays that guitar it is really a tribute to a great guitar player that actually had his act together that the unthinkable happened to. I can assure you one thing, Dean Zelinsky truely loved Dime as a friend and is genuinely tributing Dime's life so he is not forgetten. He didn't deserve what happened but even after death his thoughts and ideas are bringing happiness to the kids, adults, amatuers and pros that love the design and style of that guitar. That's the truth. |
