My guitar won't intonate.

I put thicker strings on my gibson explorer, and even with the saddle all the way down, the G and B strings are still sharp. help please!

Re: My guitar won't intonate.

Very common issue. Have you flipped the saddle the other way?
As seen in this pic for the G saddle for this Explorer:

You get the crown of the saddle to be a bit farther back with it in backwards like that. It's worked for many with this issue of running out of saddle adjustment when intonating.

Re: My guitar won't intonate.

its a skill, a good guitar luthier would have the right files and the feel for it.

You're welcome.
I had to do it on one of my LP's, although strangely not on my other one with same string gauge. Not sure why the difference...

Yep, my old Les Paul was like that. Had the flip the g-saddle backwards.

Re: My guitar won't intonate.

That's why tone pros bridges are so much better IMO. no need to adjust the intonation very ofter (a lot less often than on regular gibson bridges) and no need to flip saddles. Also you can intonate the guitar very, very precisely if you have the right tuner. They seem to sound slightly better too.

I may look into one of those in the future. It seems to be fine for now though. that sound's interesting though. I am using 12's now.
