mammoth bone nuts from russia
I am very serious about getting some mammoth bone for nuts for my guitars.
Does anyone know a reputable dealer I can get the blanks from online? I will be having these installed from a luthier in my home town and just want real mammoth ivory. |

Okay I have a feeling I'm about to ask a real stupid question... But nonethless, are these nuts from a real Wooly Mammoth? If not, feel free to laugh... I would too!

Re: mammoth bone nuts from russia
Actually, yes, mase, they are.
In siberia, there is a large amount of ivory from mammoths that are used in many crafts such as knife hilts, buttons, etc, the larger tusks fetch large sums of money. I have found a couple distributors so I should be good, I have a couple of friends from Russia and they have been contacting some people so I should get some info soon. If I find a good distributor, I'll be sure to post here to let folks know. |
