Just got the new Slash CD today..sounds great.

It has a DVD showing him using 2 AFD's for the recording process. Seems he is actually using AFD mode for recording. I could of sworn he used mainly #34 mode when I first heard the tracks. The track Standing in the Sun, he seems to be soloin in #34 mode though...

Anyone else heard the new CD?

I recently bought this CD too, and also thought that he moslty used #34. Good ablum, but to me, because of the way it's mixed, it sounds a little pop-rockish. You can definately tell it's not a Mike Clink production. It doesn't have that edge to it like what you got on the GN'R, Snakepit albums, which were done by Clink. Don't get me wrong, it has a lot of great guitar work on it that rocks, but has more of a pop rock feel and sound as opposed to the Hard Rocking edgy sound of albums in the past. His last album had the same feel. But anyway, it still good and better than most other rock albums being put out there.

If you listen to that song "Drive Me" where Slash did the solo work for the band State Line Empire, which is the band that won the GC's contest to record with Slash and Mike Clink, you can hear the Mike Clink sound with that song. It sounds harder than anything on Slash's new album.

I don't know but to me the dirty sound is the AFD except some light crunch segments where he may use the #34. Also the clean parts must be recorded using the #34 sound.

About the album, we can see a totally different "Slash" around here. His tone is diferent from the last album where he chose to stay a bit more "Vintage". In here we have a fresh air coming from his guitar (curious cause the album was recorded with an amp built to emulate a sound with 25 years). His tone has more gain and it's darker than most of his work.

Anyway, never seen Slash playing so good and he is striking notes like a virtuoso (e.g. Anastasia intro and solos).
