Hey - i am looking at buying this 1960B cab (so he says) but looking at the pics he sent me i'm not sure. Is it an old model and i should grab it up? I almost think it's a home made cab with the marshall logo. I have posted some pictures please help with any info you have. he said the tolex had just been replaced but it still looks to me like either a home made thing or they didnt do a very nice job refinishing. Anyway, any help/suggestions would be appreciated. And the thing that really gets me is how do i put my 1960A on top of this thing when it has no cut outs for the wheels - that's another reason i'm thinking it may be home made. Thanks

Hi - i have the opportunity to pick up a 1960B cab. I already have a 1960A so i have two questions. First off will my TSL 60 be enough power to push these two cabs properly? And secondly what ohm setting do i use - right now i run amp and 1960A cab at 16. I believe both cabs have 4 or 16 ohm settings while the head has 4, 8, 16 ohm settings. Also is this going to be stupid loud now or will it just give me some more tone? Thanks guys i appreciate all the help and feedback i can get on this. Cheers...

I just finished modding a JCM 900 and really love the way it sounds ( with my 5150 4x12) sitting out of the combo, but when its inside of the combo cabinet it sound pretty bad.

Does anyone know where I can find a JCM 900 Head Shell and Face Plate, I want to convert it to a head.

Thanks.

Running amp output through a stereo chorus pedal?!?

Hello all. I have a Danelectro stereo chorus pedal, which is awesome to split the guitar signal to two seperate head/cabinets and it sounds HUGE!

My question is, would a person be able to do this with one head and a stereo cab by running your 'speaker output' cable from the amp through the chorus pedal input and connecting the two outputs to either side of the cabinet?

I've oft wonderd this, but have not tried it without doing some research.

Thank you,

It's pretty unclear to me why the newer marshall combos have two metal grills at the back.

Image: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a166/RCA6L6GC/1600-JVM205C_backpanel.jpg

Wouldn't be logical and tone-helping that the lower grill is replaced with a piece of wood like the middle one?
The upper grill obviously cant be closed... but even than It doesnt give me a reason why it's there at all, lots of combo amps dont have it.
I'm excluding safety and similar reasons.

Btw, I'll ducktape the lower grill and take off the upper one on my friends dsl401 to see if it would be any difference.

Using stereo on the 1960A?

I have 100w JVM210H and a 1960a cab.

The JVM has quite a few different options for speak outputs (one thing i love about the JVM, so many options, two channels, three modes each, etc :D)
If you dont know them already, they are as follows:

1x4 Ohm
1x8 Ohm
2x8 Ohm
1x16 Ohm
2x16 Ohm

The speaker cab has two inputs when in mono - 4 ohm and 16 ohm. However, it does not specify what the inputs are when in stereo. Are they 8 ohms each?

They way i wire the amp to the speaker, is 2x8 ohm load from the amp into the two stereo inputs on the cab. Now i know everyone will tell me there is no point in doing that, and i may as well just use the single 16 ohm load. But i figured it was a sort of safety for the amp, so that if one day one of the speaker leads fail, there will be at least one still working, so the amp then isnt destroyed.

So basically my question is, is there any problem with that set up? Not unequal load issues?

Also, what would be the difference between running a 1x4 ohm load from the amp into the 4 ohm input on the cab, and running a 1x16 ohm load into the 16 ohm input on the cab? (assuming that the cab is in mono for both)
Would it be better/worse?
