Line 6 Spider 4X12 cab opinions

Has anyone tried the Line 6 Spider 4X12 cabs? I heard they carry 4 Celestion Vintage 30s. How is the wood and construction on these cabs? Still uncertain on purchasing a 15 years old JCM900 4X12 Straight cabinet or get myself involved with this cab. Im getting a good price on both. The Line 6 is brand new, the Marshall is 15 years old and has been sitting for many years.

I know this is a Marshall forum and plan to use the cab i use with a 1987x reissue no effects loop.

Can anyone confirm if this is the grillcloth color of the Marshall 4 x 12 cabinets Jimmy used while touring in 1972 - 1973?

Marshall 4X12 Cabinet with Vintage 30 speakers - eBay (item 330377215355 end time Nov-21-09 06:58:06 PST) (http://cgi.ebay.com/Marshall-4X12-Cabinet-with-Vintage-30-speakers_W0QQitemZ330377215355QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4cec043d7b)

I still think they had salt and pepper basketweave grillcloth with the small Marshall Logo.

Any one differs? Any opinions?

1960 Cabs for Home Stereo System - Can I Do It?

I just searched for 90 minutes for a previous thread on this subject and was unsuccessful. I don't want to re-hash an old topic.
So anyway here's what I got going ....
Yesterday I found and bought from CraigsList a used full stack 1960a & b.
I want to put together a Sound System (for music = vinyl records, cd's, etc.) that Rocks Loud and Clear. I want to feel it. It does not have to be beautiful only functional. In fact if it looks like it just returned from a Grand Funk concert tour sporting a few blemishes and "road rash" this will be a plus.
It will be set it up in my garage so my friends can hear some tunes while they drink my beer.
I am looking for and will purchase another used set (totaling two full stacks - for stereo, right and left sound) I want it to look like the wall of Marshalls behind Pete Townsend while he's windmilling his arm hitting a power chord!
I considered buying conventional Peavy PA type sound systems but did not. I've always wanted the Marshall Stacks. Now is the time before I get too old.
QUESTION: Will the 1960 900 Lead cabinets give me what I want? (2) 1960A, and (2) 1960B.
Will I need additional cabinet models to “fill in” where the 1960’s cannot produce? Sub-woofers, horns or tweeters?
Can this project be successful?
What type of amps, how many? Power required?
Mixers? Cables?
Conditioners?
I'm ready to blow the walls out.
Thanks men.

A friend gave me a Vintage 30 which I plan to plonk into a 1x12 cab.

My understanding is that there are two versions of this speaker...a chinese model and a UK model.

Does anyone know what to look for to determine which one it would be?

Thanks

Couple questions regarding Marshall's mid line of full sized 4x12s: the MC

Is the baffle removable like in the 1960's or is it glued in? Just curious as I'd like to have the possibility of adding white piping around the perimeter just like the 1960s and so it will match my 2005 DSL 50.

Are the speakers decent? Platform 50 Celestions.

Overall would you recommend this cab or another cab in the 4-500 dollar price range?

Hey Guys! So I just bought a Marshall 1936 2x12 cab. I replaced the stock Celestion GT12-75 speakers w/Greenbacks (16-Ohm). I know the cab is 8-Ohm Mono and you can run one speaker at a time at 16-Ohms, but if I want to run both speakers at 16-Ohms simultaneously how would I do it? Does anyone have a wiring diagram? Any help would be appreciated...

I own a JCM900 4 X 12 Cabinet and plan to remove the grillcloth it came with.

I would like to know if besides the Salt and pepper basketweave grill cloth, i will need to purchase piping? If so what color of piping will I require to complete the restoration as per Marshall original specs.

Where can i get a good deal for this cloth and piping?

JTM30 - Expected More Volume !

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and have enjoyed all the posts so far.

I have a question that's been bugging me and this is probably the best place on Earth to ask.

I have 2 JTM30's (1x12's) which I love to bits. I thought I'd like to get a bit more total volume out of them by adding extension speaker cabs. The matching JTM C12 cabs are usually too expensive (like usually the same price as a complete amp) for me if they ever come up second hand.

As there are not so many 16 ohm, 70 watt cabinets regularly stocked by my local store I decided to try out an Epiphone Valve Junior extension cab (see link below) . It looks nice and the price was right.

The problem is that when I plug in the extension cabinet, the sound is fine, but the total volume is not noticeably louder. Plugging in the extension makes the volume of the amps internal speaker go down enough that the total volume is about the same as without the extension speaker. I wasn't expecting the sound level to double with the extension speaker, but I did expect some kind of boost.

Can anyone with a JTM30 + JTM C12 (or anyone who knows the theory better then me) let me know how their sound level increases when adding the extra speaker ?

Thanks in advance,

BigMacAms

I am planning on purchasing a Straight JCM900 4X12 cabinet which I believe is 300Watts total. The price I am getting is US$275 for the full cab which carries Celestion Speaker so I think its a good offer.

Will I get a nice Classic Rock (Zeppelin, Cream, Hendrix, Ace Frehly tone) with this combination? In other words, is the cabinet 100% suitable and safe to use with the 1987x Reissue 50 watter?
