Digital Camera - Recording sound at concert??

Do any of you guys know how to improve the sound that the digital camera records? I know the sound level at the concert in the 3rd row is going to be high and I did not want the input to be overloaded. Tape some material over the mic???

Thanks

Re: Digital Camera - Recording sound at concert??

Hi.

The inbuilt mics are always pretty bad, better to get an external one, preferably with a level control.

Might try some windscreen foam from a standard microphone, as you can cut it to taste and it will take some edge off!

I was thinking that might work. The external mic is the best, but I doubt they would let me take that into the concert. Positive they would not.

Re: Digital Camera - Recording sound at concert??

We used a JVC Hard Disk cam to record us playing once, about 20 ft. from the drums and amp/PA stuff...we didn't play super loud, like 1/2 volume prolly, but the camera recorded very good quality.
