It was UFO with opening act Judas Priest at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, somewhere around 1977-78. I think the UFO album being promoted was "Lights Out" and it was "Hell Bent for Leather" for JP.
And Guv'nor ~ I got past the gate attendants with a fake ID to see the Ramones at the Agora Ballroom in 1978 "Road To Ruin". |

Aerosmith on the "Rocks" tour in December of '76 followed by Kiss on the "Destroyer" tour a week later, then Led Zeppelin on the "Presence" tour and Rush on the "Farewell to Kings" tour in '77.

I went to The Backstreet Boys concert when I was 16 years old.. that was back in 1999. It was good times, though! It was in St. Louis, MO. It was my first time!

Re: The first concert you attended
I believe the first concert I payed to see was the Doobie Brothers back in Macon, Ga around 1973. I saw a lot of the local Capricorn Studios' artists playing "free jams" down at the Central City Park (fairgrounds) in Macon back in the early 70's.
There was a moment in time (1970 to 1975) when Macon, GA was a great place for a kid with a guitar to grow up. Nothing much left but the memories now... |

Re: The first concert you attended
Alice Cooper -Welcome to My Nightmare in Edmonton
He had just fallen of the stage in Vancouver after the huge spider web prop had fallen down and bounced him off it. He was wrapped up with broken ribs and could hardly move, yet alone sing. He went on for a while a did a few songs, then had to be helped off the stage. The rest of his band completed the show. He had two great guitarists working for him, Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner. They went out front and battled guitar leads...all improvised and fantastic. It wasn't what I came to see, but it was still a memorable concert. I learned alot about professionalism on stage from that show.

Re: The first concert you attended
Cheap Trick, Canterbury Odeon 1978. I was 18 and had just arrived at University. It was the first gig I went to that I wasn't playing at
(I'd been playing out for about 2 years at that point). I think I saw The Cure (humped gear for that one), Ozzy, and The Pretenders all in the following couple of months. Why did I wait so long? Well, the only way you could get to see a touring act when I was a kid was to go to Leeds. Nobody our age had a car, so unless you felt like either leaving before the headliner was half finished you'd be walking home 12-15 miles in the wee small hours. Some guys did it though. |

Kiss - August 1977 at the Fabulous Forum in Los Angeles, CA. Cheap Trick opened the show. I was 7 years old. My brother and I were huge fans. Dad was not a fan but he took us because we were so into Kiss. Just one of the many cool things our pop has done for us.

Re: The first concert you attended
I can't remember the exact year, lots aof partying at that time... but my first 3 shows was all pretty much the same year (more or less) between 88 - 89 :
Maiden - Seventh son of a 7th son Ozzy - No rest Metallica - And Justice And If memory serves me right, Maiden was first, Ozzy then Metallica. Maiden had GnR opening up. Ozzy had Vixen and GreatWhite Metallica had Queensryche (OP mindcrime). |
