What 2x12?

Hey guys, I've got £200 to spend on a new or good condition used 2x12 cab, and was wondering that you would suggest?

Thanks

Hi there, for that money you can't go wrong with a second hand Marshall 1936 2x12, you should get a pretty good one for that

if you can get some more cash together I would recommend the Orange 2x12 with vintage 30s, in my opinion the best sounding 2x12 in existence, make sure its the closed back version PPC212 not the OB version, will set you back around £300 second hand (£450 ish new!) but worth it

Re: What 2x12?

Hello,
Would anyone know the ohm rating on the Orange PPC212? I'm looking for a good 4 ohm mono 2X12 cab. The specs on the vintage 30s say 8 and 16 ohms. Does that mean they make either 8 or 16 ohm speakers? Anyway, not trying to change the subject.

hi Noone, the PPC212 is mono 16ohm, it has 2 x 8ohm speakers wired in series but you could easily wire them in parallel to make a 4ohm mono cab

Marshall 1936 is the best cab out there for a 2x12 IMO.

Re: What 2x12?

Thanks for the reply Watchtheskies. I think a 16 ohm cab would work too. I'm trying to match up imedances with a 1960 cab which runs at 4 or 16 ohms.

Absolutely !
Now u need to figure out if you want a 1936 or 1936V.
The 1936 has G12T-75's and the 1936V has Vintage30's.
The 1936V is a tad more expensive but if you come across a used one u should be able to get it for around £200
